“GET OFF MY PHONE!” – Glenn Beck Remix

My grandmother used to have a saying, “If you can’t reason with them, mock them.”

Not true, I made that up.  My grandma was a sweetie. Actually, that’s not true either. Both of them had a mean streak which often overrode the better parts of their personalities. One of them made up for it by stocking her freezer with ice cream.  As a 6 year old, I would have loved Dracula as long as he fed me a steady supply of ice cream.

Anyway, mocking ain’t cool but in the case of Beck, it’s well deserved.  And talking of Dracula…

  1. Zenith says:

    Beck has one redeeming quality. He makes every other fanatical wingnut seem almost sane.

  2. Maxene says:

    Holy crap. The guys gone completely off his rocker. He is attempting to appeal to the real crazies. He didn’t do this schtick much on CNN, and had poor ratings. Now he’s part of FIX news. Alas he does provide us a steady stream of entertainment.

    For the record, the guy had a lousy childhood wrought with suicides and untimely deaths. He is a recovering alcoholic and has had substance abuse problems.

    Hey, and you had your granny with her mean streak.So no excuses for him. Ah, but that ice cream can even melt a vampires heart.

    PS What flavor? Inquiring minds want to know.

  3. catlover says:

    @Zenith Not sure about that. Have you listened to Malkin and Savage lately?

  4. Walnut Maple and Butter Pecan run a close one, two.

  5. NathalieD says:

    Ben and Jerry’s Rainbow Sherbet does it for me every time. Might run off now to get me a double scoop.

  6. Maxene says:

    @ that’s odd Butter Pecan must be a Canadian thing. My mother’s favorite. Ehhh.

    Having a mom from Canada, I grew using that term and still do but never realized it was a Canadian thing until I was an adult.

  7. Maxene says:

    Damn, see what watching Glen Beck makes us do. @NathalieD It makes us run out for our morning Ben and Jerry’s fix. After watching that video firth thing(well almost) in the am, we need something to sweeten our palette.

  8. Maxene says:

    FIRST* thing in the morning, too

  9. Maxene says:

    @Mario Oy,or is it Ehhh. He cites Wiki as a source re Butter Pecan ice cream. That being said, I think that sounds correct. It would be popular in the south, make sense. Well I couldn’t be further south now, unless I decided to move to Cuba. “Smooth buttery flavor, with Pecans added” sounds decadent. Hey it’s Sat. Time to play. ;)

  10. Janine says:

    Hysterical! and I got to see the mock crying faces again which makes me laugh even harder.

    Doesn’t Beck realize that vampires offer eternal life to “the teenage daughters.” Oh wait, better not tell him, he may choose to be turned by Count Chockula and then…..Beck will just get in a war with Captain Crunch and nobody needs to see or hear that.

    @mario @maxene ice cream huh, in my granny’s house it was pecan pie :D

  11. Maxene says:

    LOL @Janine you better believe that for lunch I’m going over to Kilwin’s and get myself something sweet.

    Okay Janine, I’m going to try something here to see if it works. This smily face business is quite important as you well know. So here goes.

    :( :P :D :X

  12. Maxene says:

    :x

  13. He cites Wiki as a source re Butter Pecan ice cream.” -Maxene

    :D

  14. Janine says:

    @Maxene, oh no a mad smiley face, doesn’t that go against the smiley face mantra? (laughing — good humor there Maxene!)

  15. Tommy Pane says:

    So, if you can’t argue the facts, you mock them? What is this, 3rd grade?

  16. Janine says:

    @Tommy

    in all fairness Beck does a pretty good 3rd grader impression himself. Actually, no I amend that, he does a great impression of a middle-school, school yard bully

  17. Bill says:

    Oh come on with Beck. If he’s nothing else, he’s entertaining and hilarious. I find myself laughing at him even when I think he is being stupid sometimes. He’s got a perfect clown’s face. Very animated expressions. You don’t have to agree with him to appreciate his “different” brand of humor.

    And he’s a fairly decent author.

  18. @Tommy

    First of all, I’m hurt. I would of thought that the level of discourse here was at least a grade 4 level.

    As for arguing the facts with the likes of a Beck, you make the mistake of interpreting the garbage he speaks as ‘facts’. Try arguing with any of this…

    Beck Madness

  19. Janine says:

    @Bill

    Are you talking about his book “Common Sense” when you say he’s a fairly decent author? I have not read it mostly because the title/author pairing is the very definition of ironic.

    But I do agree with you that he is hilarious.

  20. @Bill @Janine

    Agree that Beck is entertaining. The ‘Beck Madness’ I wrote above is a link. Not sure if it shows up as a link…but it is.

  21. Bill says:

    janine, “Christmas Sweater”

  22. Janine says:

    @mario

    it does show up as a link. Funny piece!

  23. Tommy Pane says:

    @mario piperni
    @bill

    I encourage both of you to read Beck’s book, Common Sense. The facts will “make blood shoot from your eyes”.

    By mentioning 3rd grade tactics, I was falling into the same tactics. My apologies. Let’s stick to facts.

  24. Janine says:

    @bill,

    oh Bill, now you go and throw Christmas in to it. I didn’t know about this book which from the description seems that it tugs at the heartstrings of the reader. I’m properly admonished and in the spirit of Santa I might even read that book

  25. Tommy Pane says:

    @mario piperni

    I just looking at your link to Beck’s garbage facts. How does mocking him argue the facts?

  26. Leonard says:

    @mario piperni
    @Tommy Pane
    Exactly how does mocking anyone argue the facts?

  27. Tommy Pane says:

    It doesn’t. That’s my point.

  28. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

    @mario piperni
    Did someone say that it was time to play with ice cream? Is that acceptable in this medium or not? What is allowed to be spoken in this blog? Because I have some ideas of my own! Just do not want to cause any confusion and have me removed for my great creative mind!

  29. Leonard says:

    @Tommy Pane
    I agree with you completely.
