The saying I use, (I’m pretty sure I’m the originator of this one) is: If I had to do this parenting thing over again, I’d go with the goldfish instead.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words. My daughter Cristina, thinks you’re all so wonderful and she looks forward to the Face of the Day so she can read all the nice things you say about her little baby. Cute.
This Leena Face of the Day post is not an easy task, btw. I literally have dozens of pics to choose from and she’s so wonderfully cute in all of them. I could have just as easily posted this one instead.
I can certainly see that selecting a picture of Leena for Face of the Day has to be a tough gig!! I love Face of the Day especially because serious matters affecting our country are the usual topic of the day here, and while I enjoy that, too, it is refreshing and pleasureable to focus on the promise of a bright future with your sweet granddaughter, Leena. I also want to give a shout out to Cristina — thanks for sharing these precious moments with all of us loyal fans of your dad’s blog. :)
Let’s settle on partially joking. As much as I loved (and love) being a dad and acknowledging the fact that my three children were a joy to raise (they really were), I can think of a couple of times when the thought of the three of them as goldfish swimming in a glass bowl sounded sweet.
As far as I know, goldfish are incapable of checking out the water resistant characteristics of a cell phone by dropping it in a pail of water…and leaving it there for TWO DAYS! Also, goldfish don’t have little hands that can pick up a baseball and throw it at full velocity against the bedroom wall to determine if the drywall can take the impact. Baseball: 1 – Drywall: 0.
But then, goldfish can’t wrap their tiny arms around your neck and hug you tight and say, “I love you, dad.”
Proud much, grandad? Good reason to be…
a little…
This little girl is off the scale on the cuteness factor.
Best photo yet.
wow!
Mario: Leena makes my day, thank you!! I am a grandpapa. Richard Berryman

Keep us up on these as they come available. I think this is one of the most beautiful Pics I have sen in ages. Congrats…….
Too adorable — and not a care in the world! Sweet innocence!! Love, love, love Face of the Day starring baby Leena. :)
Ahhh…..double all the above!
My heart aches for one…NOT my own, one of my son’s….
Still adorable. Thanks, Mario!
Heart melting a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e…

Have you ever heard the saying “if I had only known how wonderful grandchildren were, I would of had them first”.
@Sydney. Good saying. I’m pretty sure I agree.

You could fix your problem of having to pick only one picture by changing the name to “faces of the day”.
Mario — beautiful family! Be nice and forget those minor transgressions — they’ll be picking out your nursing home someday!! :)
