When my daughter Cristina heard of the 20 young children shot and killed in Connecticut, she did what I’m sure millions of parents throughout the world did. She ran over to her baby, picked her up into her arms, held her tight…and cried.
I can only begin to imagine the grief of parents who lost a young one in Friday’s tragedy. Whatever it is this world is, don’t ever try to sell me on the idea that it is a just one. It is not. In a just world, in a sane world, 6-year old children quietly sitting in their classrooms do not get killed by crazed young men brandishing semi-automatic assault weapons.
Love these Monday pictures, Mario. It’s truly needed after this past week. And tell your daughter I wanted to do the same thing, run into my 22 yr old sons room and hold him tight. I did show some restraint by waiting til he woke up, but I did hug him and kiss him extra hard. When I told him why, he hugged me back even tighter.
I agree, Dee — its uplifting to see Leena’s sweet face on Mondays. The happening of last Friday has dealt a heavy emotional blow to all of us. What remaining feelings of security, if any, we had in this troubled world have been shattered. I hurt so much for these families, and I want to see each and every avenue of viable prevention pursued to try to stop anymore of these horrible tragedies. As the President said last night at the prayer service, “we can do better than this!”

As the President said last night at the televised prayer service, “we can do better than this!”
