You have to be loving the new jobs report. With the unemployment rate finally dipping to under 8 percent (7.8%) comes the news that 114,000 new jobs were added in September and the jobs count for July and August were revised to 181,000 and 142,000 respectively. That is an increase from the original count of 40,000 for July and 46,000 jobs for August. The bottom line is that there are more people working now than when Barack Obama took office.
The economy is growing (as it has for the last three years) and the climb out of an ugly recession is real and undeniable…and Republicans and conservatives are in freakout mode. Romney’s entire campaign of distortions and lies is based on the single premise that President Obama was a bad steward of the economy. If that argument proves to be false, Mitt’s got nothing to run on.
Well, guess what…Romney’s got nothing to run on. But, of course, you already knew that.
In a hysterical act of desperation, the right refuses to accept the numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Typical of their response to the good news is this tweet from former CEO of General Electric, Jack Welch.
Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can’t debate so change numbers
— Jack Welch (@jack_welch) October 5, 2012
Interesting. I wonder if it’s the same Chicago guys who released the less positive jobs report the day after the Democratic convention.
This one from some wingnut at the Washington Examiner is especially funny and so very stupid.
I don’t think BLS cooked numbers. I think a bunch of Dems lied about getting jobs. That would have same effect.

Obviously, the delusion runs deep.
Total data manipulation. Such a farce
— zerohedge (@zerohedge) October 5, 2012
And how do you even start a discussion with someone who writes the following?
Fake job numbers of 7.8% unemployment reveal the Obama corruption is in EVERY govt. dept. All are comprimised or complicit. Our govt is gone
— Lawrence Lange (@LawrenceLange1) October 5, 2012
You can’t. Paranoia, delusion and hate fuels the right and there is no possible way to deal with them on a rational level. Facts mean nothing to people when they have given themselves the authority to ignore or rewrite the ones that don’t jive with whatever snake oil they’re peddling.
Sadly, it is not an exaggeration to state that insanity has taken a permanent foothold in the Republican party.
UPDATE
Here’s why the Fox News audience is as ignorant and misinformed as it is. Try having a discussion on the economy with one of them after they see trash like this. Impossible. In their little minds, if Fox says it, then it’s true.
Sigh. Fox does such a wonderful job of keeping their viewers stupid.

Remember, Mitt’s primary opponents claimed he was “fearless” and would do ANYTHING to win, including lie about them, which led him to the nomination. I find it unremarkable Faux is exercising the practice…can’t face coming nose to nose with their failed policies and any success for their arch enemies, the Keynesians.
Now it’s the President’s turn…watching him at the debate made me think of the visual I imagined of him the moment he finally, undeniably, realized that the R Party was indeed as vicious and intractable as they promised on his Inauguration Night, casting struggling America and their complicity aside in order to reclaim what they believe to be rightfully theirs…the Oval Office.
Denial…their biggest “asset”. (of course what I mean is LIES). Pity they have such a following.
25 bank economist got it wrong? Come on. Estimates was 8.1 to 8.2. The economy has improved 6 percent in 60 days. The real threat here is that financial people and the stock rely on this data. I guess everyone’s working now and the we avoid recession. GDP must be 4 percent. The government says so.
Well, curious – If you want to make shadowy, “I’m just sayin’ ” accusations, then send a link showing how the unemployment number could possibly be manipulated and I will listen. Otherwise, you are nothing more than Glen Beck coming up with raw meat for the know nothings.
The death knell will be the october job report at the beginning of November. My fingers are crossed for the Romney ship to hit the OBAMA Sunami just before the elections.Another reduction in the jobless rate will be a start to a Romney defeat.
OBAMA/BIDEN for 2012
30 years of being told the government’s bad and the GOP doing all they can to make sure that happens has done nothing but create mistrust of the government — of course, people like GW don’t help either.
And as long as politicians keep running on the “bad government” meme, rather than let’s make government better, the distrust will continue until one day it reaches a breaking point.
I’m so tired of the hate and the fear mongering, all the conspiracy theories – right and left, right along with the Gordon Gecko mentality.
