Just when I think I’m understanding the gun culture mindset, they do something to throw me off. First there was guns and booze. I swallowed hard but…ok. Then guns in parks. I struggled with that one too but finally came around. The guns in churches was going to take some time to accept and then…out of nowhere, comes the following…
BUTLER, Mo. — Those purchasing a vehicle at Max Motors in Missouri will receive an AK-47 assault rifle with their purchase during the month of August.
“We already did handguns,” Muller said. “Let’s do something more fun — AKs. You ever shot an AK? Oh, they’re a blast.”
I’m sure they are. Every household should have an assault rifle right next to their Jack Daniels, picnic basket and Bible.
The guns and car combo reminds me of that classic scene from Godfather 1 when Sonny takes his final, lonely ride…

Have you not seen Bowling for Columbine? The opening scene of the film shows him opening a bank account at a small town bank where they’re giving out rifles as the token gift for new account holders. I suppose it beats a toaster, but there are lots of other things I’d give out before guns. How about a cell phone?
Max Motors in Missouri. Maybe I should purchase a very inexpensive vehible and then resale it after I get my AK. Just have to hold up a few convenient stores and get my money back. Great to see legos dying and in a pool of blood. Makes it all so much more real.
Not exactly accurate. Common sense should tell you that.

“But not to worry, Muller is not handing out free guns.
“We’re just not going to give people an AK-47 gun. Felons buy cars, too. What we are going to do is we’re going to give them a voucher where they can go to their local gun dealer, or we have local gun dealers we would strongly recommend where they can buy a gun and go through the proper background checks so the guns wind up in the right hands,” Muller told KMBC.”
“The retail value of an AK-47 is $450 but Muller said customers can spend their voucher on the gun of their choice.”
Essentially, they are giving a voucher for the price of a gun. For those who wish to purchase a gun.
You’re missing the point. This guy is advertising a free AK47 ASSAULT WEAPON with a purchase of a car. That’s the sick part.
@Bill
What a great idea. You get your voucher like an airline food voucher and get your machine gun. Fourth of July will never be the same. How do I get to Missouri from here?
It’s not a “Great Idea”. It’s a questionable promotion at best and the guy himself sounds a little flaky.

It’s just not the “OH MY GOD THEY ARE GIVING AWAY AK 47′S WITH THE PURCHASE OF A CAR” that you are being misled to believe it is.
That’s EXACTLY what it is! They’re giving away AK47s with the purchase of a car! Why would anyone want to spin this story?
@everyone,
here’s Max’s website http://www.max71.com/
which states in flashing letters and AK47 sounds that they are giving away an AK47 with each truck purchase. And the AK is pointed at an animated individual’s head (who mind you, is wearing a hat and has a symbol on his chest — could be construed to be law enforcement) and that individual is brandishing weapons.
View the ad and tell me what message that sends.
First off, they CAN’T give away an AK 47 or any other type of firearm. It would be against the law. (I’m not sure about shotguns but I don’t think they would be able to do that either these days.)
Anyone with common sense when seeing this would understand there had to be more to it. As I stated, it just simply is not, “OH MY GOD THEY ARE GIVING AWAY AK 47?S WITH THE PURCHASE OF A CAR.” (Listen to the man and read the reports.)
I don’t know and am not going to take the time to check it out. You can if you wish. But I would be willing to bet you there are provisions for being able to cash the voucher for either cash or something else. Or even if you just simply don’t want a gun, to have the amount credited against your purchase. The focus of this man’s efforts are to SELL A CAR, not give away anything.
This promotion has done precisely what it was intended to do. It has drawn attention (probably more than he had hoped for) to this Gentleman’s Car Lot and sale. This man is stupid….like a Fox.
Janine, to heck with the AK 47′s. I want a voucher for the girls in the shorts in the ad!!
@Bill lmao Well call Max maybe he can work something out for you! ???
and @Bill, I understand it’s a voucher they are giving away an not an actual AK and I even understand this is a selling car gimmick, but AKs, really? Aren’t there better ways to sell cars?
janine, “Aren’t there better ways to sell cars?”
In Missouri?? Maybe not.
@ Bill, ha ha good point
But the question still remains in my mind if I should go purchase my truck and place my good old AK on the rack behind my seat and move on feeling energized.
What you say @Bill? Should we go shooting some ducks? LOL They would probably be pulverized with an AK. Feathers flying all over the place.
Then we could not eat them. You know the motto: “you kill it/you eat it.” So beware what or who you kill.
