Dick Cheney, in one of his rare moments of honesty, had this to say about John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his VP choice.
I think that was a mistake. Is this person capable of being president of the United States?
I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her. I know her. … Attractive candidate. But based on her background — she’d only been governor for, what, two years — I don’t think she passed that test … of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake.
Well aside from the fact that the above observation was obvious four years ago to most people possessing a sound mind, they were spoken by a man whom many would argue was the worse and most corrupt VP the U.S. has ever known. How nice if Cheney would also admit that George W. Bush was not qualified to be President, but don’t hold your breath waiting for Dick to utter those words. It was exactly the fact that Bush was an incompetent, know-nothing moron that allowed Cheney to play the role of puppeteer for those eight, long disastrous years. An incompetent jackass for President suited Cheney well in 2001. Not so much as a VP choice in 2008 when he was no longer in control.
Palin’s problem, of course, was not that she had been governor for a mere two years. It was that she was, and is, an ignoramus. It was this that made her unsuitable for the VP position…or just about any other position I can think of. But you already knew this.
Cheney’s daughter, Liz, threw in her two cents and wins the award for most brazen, biased crapola of the week.
Puke time. And if you need another reason for ignoring just about anything the Cheneys have to say about anything, here are Dick Cheney’s words from September 2008.
…there’s no reason why Sarah Palin can’t be a successful vice president in a McCain administration.
They’re little more than idiotic, parading clowns, the entire bunch of them. Hey Liz, here’s what the rest of us think about your dad.

I’m no fan of Palin but only a partisan crackpot would claim that Mr. Community Organizer was any more prepared in 2009. The last 4 years are a testament to how ill-prepared he was. Obama has been an unequivocal failure.
Oh Marcus, Marcus, Marcus….why do you troll here? Doesn’t reading brietbarts website fulfill all your teabag, oh I’m sorry, you clearly stated you are an independent in a previous post. Palin was an idiot without one drop of intellectual curiosity, just like Bush. Obama is a brilliant man. You might call me silly, but just as I would want a brilliant doctor to perform brain surgery on myself or a loved one, I want the same qualities in the person that is leading this country. The republicans, in order to get their followers to welcome with open arms any ignorant politician, manage to state with a straight face that an intelligent politician is a bad thing. How you are gullible enough to believe this, I can’t imagaine. I know some business owners who built up a multimillion dollar business, with an impeccable reputation for quality and service. They sold it to a family, that over several years managed to run it into the ground, causing the business to go under. The origional owners took the company back, but it took them YEARS to bring prosperity back. The damage that was done was so extensive, that for a while they believed it was a lost cause, but they put their best foot foward and over time, business improved, and they were back where they had once been. The GOP ran the show, unimpeded from 2000-2006, they deregulated and cut taxes to their hearts content. There was nobody to stop them. They passed legislation that resulted in not only collapsing the US economy…….they managed to destroy the worlds economy.
Do you recall when bush, who was on vacation at the time (in total he took over 900 days) received a daily briefing titled “bin laden determined to strike within the united states”, a briefing that went on to explain that a group of Muslim fundies
Continued……..a group of Muslim fundies were planning on using US commercial airplanes as bombs, and they were planning to fly them into specific buildings. That was one month before 9/11. That info flew over Bushes head. A member of the security administration actually flew to his ranch to try and convince him, that this was not good news, not good at all, and you know what Bushs response was to this disturbing information “ok you covered your ass, you can go now” and he continued his cowboy duties of cutting brush they fought tooth and nail to keep this information out of the public realm, but condi rice was forced to read the title of the daily briefing onto the record. The last repub that ever did anything good was Nixon, opened talks with china, inacted the EPA, and started HMO type health care. And he was a lying crook!
Sydney….well said…!!!
Of course, Republicans are used to giving orders and/or doing what they’re told. I can’t, of course, be certain that Bush was Cheney’s puppet for eight years, but It doesn’t take much for me to consider it possible*.
I have run events and worked with community groups, and anyone who has actually done that can tell you that it takes a lot of effort, dedication and leadership to manage a disparate and diverse group of people, many with conflicting interests, and get them working towards a common goal. Anyone who has tried to do that wouldn’t shit on the term “Community Organizer”. It takes a lot more work than giving orders to a bunch of corporate stooges in monkey suits, people who wouldn’t know what it’s like to get their hands dirty, who were born on third base and thought they hit a triple. Those who get out with the people and work with them do more for our country than anyone who pushes paper profits from one end of a desk to the other.
*My favorite Dubya-as-Cheney’s-puppet joke is this: Dubya and the vice president were in an elevator. Cheney sniffed the air and asked, “George, did you just fart?” The president said, “No. Was I supposed to?”
For those that think Obama hasn’t moved fast enough in cleaning up the mess, think about this:
It took only hours to destroy the twin towers – it took years to build them.
@E.A.Blair. That puppet joke is wonderful.
@Pjevs: Thank you. You could tell it for 2012 by substituting Grover Norquist for Cheney and any Republican for Bush, or Romney for Bush and Sheldon Adelson for Cheney.
