Mario, I have only one disagreement with Barney Franks on this one. She is obviously too young to have really known about the Holocaust and she is also obviously just parroting what she was told to say by right-wingers. She needed more than a rant in return. Here is what I would have said.
“You really need to understand the Holocaust to realized what you just said. The Nazis raped, gassed, mutilated, killed, stole, interrogated, abused and denigrated millions upon millions of people in death camps and the survivors of those camps can show you the tattoos on their arms from their incarceration. Our U.S. Army told horror stories of people who looked like skeletons and of stockpiles of skulls and other bones when they reached the camps. How dare you stand here and try to cheapen and lessen the memory of those who died and those who survived with scars that will last a lifetime by trying to say that Obama and the Democrats in any way resemble that. You need to go back to school and/or visit the Holocaust Museum and/or talk to a survivor about their experience so you can begin the remorse you truly need to feel for your remarks here today. May we never forget….never again…..never again. Go home, lady, to the shame you deserve!
I loved it! Barney tells it like it is. Very refreshing to see a politician not trying to straddle the fence lest he offend those on the left or right.
The thing I am enjoying the most about all this, is people like Frank, Pelosi, Boxer, Massa, Specter and others are creating Campaign Video their opponents will use to unseat them.
I find it hard to believe that elected officials who have displayed such open contempt and hostility for their constituents will be able to overcome that at election time. And their opponents should not let the public forget what these people REALLY think of them.
Melody, I’m almost 25, and I know that comparing anything except the Holocaust to the Holocaust is extremely offensive. I really can’t stand it when people assume that someone is “too young” to know better when they say something offensive. Were you that ignorant when you were her age or my age? I know that I was never that ignorant. How many ridiculous things did you compare to the Holocaust?
Anyway, I’m glad that Barney Frank tore this person a new one. There’s no point in engaging with someone who is that content with their ignorance. Such an idiotic and baseless question doesn’t deserve an answer.
I have loved Barney Frank since I first learned about him 15 years ago, and I love him even more for his response to that poor woman who isn’t smart enough to understand the words coming out of her own mouth.
Larry, seriously, just shut up. You’re nothing more than a far-right hatemonger and spin doctor. You rightards have nothing but contempt for everyone; you’re pissed off someone’s turning it back on your slime.
Mario, it’s time to make a decision: Us or them? You’re giving these scumbags a free platform; you need to take some responsibility for what you’re allowing.
Don’t worry about it. Just take joy in the fact that you’re not a Larry. Imagine spending your days salivating at each word spoken by the liars at Fox, oblivious to the fact that they’re laughing at you? Imagine being a tool of the health care industry who are lining their pockets at the expense of people as they pour in millions to stop H/C reform.
Chuckle at the simplistic and naive thinking of a Larry who just doesn’t know better. He might be a lost cause but there are conservatives out there who do possess a brain. We just need to keep on telling the truth.
@mario/VP – Again, as I said. Frank finally got one right. I’m waiting as I’m sure your day will finally come also.
Aside from that, thank you. I truly strive to differentiate myself from the effete, intellectually elite who obviously know so much better than anyone else what is in the best interests of all.
It is revealing for all to see you, like your fellow liberals in Congress, abide by the maxim, “Do as I say do. Not as I do.”
Funny. Even when I agree with you, you choose to exercise immature pettiness. Says a lot about the man, wouldn’t you say?
I didn’t notice. A lot of people get real philosophic when they get drunk. I guess it doesn’t have to work that way for everybody. ;-)
I’m just wondering if there’s a source they go to for things like “rightard” or if they just come up with those dazzling comments all on their own. Maybe they buy a little pocket dictionary!! Maybe we can get Billy to come back and hawk it for them. “K-TEL’S POCKET DICTIONARY OF CONSERVATIVE INSULTS”!
It’s funny that out of one side of their face, they complain about partisan politics, but out of the other side of their face, they applaud rhetoric like, “us or them”
