Glenn Beck once again shows us what a man lacking moral fiber sounds like.
“Look at the character of the people. John Holdren, our science czar. If there’s a population explosion, I can help you reduce the population, through sterilants in drinking water and forced abortions. Now, he’s said, “Well that — that was at a time when we thought the population explosion. That was in the 70s, and it was a time of the pop” – but he’s never said that it was a crazy idea. Never. He says the population thing didn’t happen, not that even if the population thing did happen, we shouldn’t put sterilants in drinking water.”
As MediaMatters points out, PolitiFact had already given Beck a pants on fire rating back in July when he made the same claim.
PolitiFact.com concluded that “the text of the book” at the root of Becks’ falsehood “clearly does not support that. We think a thorough reading shows that these were ideas presented as approaches that had been discussed. They were not posed as suggestions or proposals. In fact, the authors make clear that they did not support coercive means of population control. Certainly, nowhere in the book do the authors advocate for forced abortions.” PolitiFact gave Beck’s claim “pants on fire” status. Indeed, Holdren and his co-authors advocated for noncoercive means of population control.
Another example of a right wing hack who is more than willing to ruin a person’s career by lying through his teeth. There aren’t any rules or guidelines for these people. Beck, Limbaugh, Palin, Malkin and the rest of them just don’t give a damn and any statement which furthers their agenda is fair game. That’s how scum operates.
On a positive note, the list of sponsors refusing to run ads on Beck’s show is now up to 90. Nice.

Conservatives seem to think that learning about something – or even teaching about something in an academic setting, is the same as supporting or promoting that thing. It is a rather reactionary view and it is pervasive. That must be why they are so suspicious of educators.
