An American Military Coup?

Storming the White House / http://mariopiperni.com/

.

It was just a matter of time before someone actually spoke the words.

From Newsmax:

There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.

America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it. So, view the following through military eyes:

# Officers swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Unlike enlisted personnel, they do not swear to “obey the orders of the president of the United States.”

# Top military officers can see the Constitution they are sworn to defend being trampled as American institutions and enterprises are nationalized.

# They can see that Americans are increasingly alarmed that this nation, under President Barack Obama, may not even be recognizable as America by the 2012 election, in which he will surely seek continuation in office.

# They can see that the economy — ravaged by deficits, taxes, unemployment, and impending inflation — is financially reliant on foreign lender governments.

[...]

I love this part:

Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a “family intervention,” with some form of limited, shared responsibility?

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Does it surprise anyone that talk of a military coup has finally emerged from the right?  Has not every word and action from wingnuts been leading to this very statement?

They see an “Obama Problem” that needs to be fixed.  I see a bunch of intellectually-challenged idiots who have a real problem accepting a smart, liberal, black man as their President.

  1. Tennessean says:

mario, your continuous playing the race card does little to further your arguments. (That’s twice in two day by the way.)

“…..who have a real problem accepting a smart, liberal, black man as their President.”

(The name calling doesn’t do a whole bunch either.)

Do you not think that most likely the possibility of just such an action has been gamed out in the administration? Would it not be prudent of this or any administration to have some sort of plan for virtually any contingency? I think so.

If you note, this piece simply describes how it might happen, much like you might describe how a Swine Flu epidemic might impact the nation. It is intellectually negligent to not understand and plan for possible contingencies.

Personally, I’d like to think it would never come to this. I think the 2010 Elections are going to blunt the liberal assault on our country. And I take them at their word when they state:

“Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it.”

Let all Americans hope it never comes to that, regardless the skin color of the sitting President.

  2. janine says:

No, it isn’t any wonder that they are talking about a military coup.

Especially because fucking idiots like Beck are out there saying he thinks Obama will use an emergency to abolish Congress & start a dictatorship. No wonder the other idiots are talking coup. Stop the lies.

  3. RDS says:

Conveniently overlooked by these treasonous people is that Obama was democratically elected.

  4. Anomaly100 says:

There was a video on YouTube a couple of months back. The comments were something like this: “I’ll follow you into battle. Semper Fi!!” and “We need to march into Washington & throw that liberal scum & his “n__ family out!” The video was of a man speaking yet never showing his face & speaking about a “revolution”. The comments were done by guys claiming to have a military backgroud. I kept reporting this video but it took ages before it was taken down. So, when someone says you’re playing the “race card”, well we know it’s for a very good reason. There is too much racial rhetoric out there. Just ask Glenn Beck.

  5. 411 says:

    Tennessean,

There is a difference between playing the race card and talking about race. I think and most would agree, there is a small contingent of the conservative party, that can’t see beyond President Obama’s race.

  6. Tennessean says:

411, I agree to a point. But it gets kinda tiresome to see race “talked” about almost exclusively when noting any disagreement with the policies of this administration. It’s a widely used and accepted manner of marginalizing all protest or disagreement.

I also find spurious the claims of those that repeatedly say they don’t believe race plays into every criticism, but routinely refers to dissatisfaction or disillusionment with the color of this President’s skin.

  7. Jovial says:

    Tennessean,

It’s too bad you are incapable of reading between the lines. Calling out the troops is a desperate move by the fringe and even the thought of having a military coup reduces America to the status of a fourth world country fraught with genocide, famine and dictatorship. There is no reason to rebel as America has nothing of this and I would never have thought that this would happen in America.

It has been so very well said that the people have democratically elected the President and a military coup would circumvent the very freedoms that we cherish and the system by which democracy protects the people. Be it Republican or Democrat ! Don’t ever entertain that thought because we are better than that.

  8. Tennessean says:

Jovial, so you are saying the people have no right to rise up against a Democratically elected President JUST because he was Democratically elected??

Welcome to The Radical Liberal American’s “America”.

  9. walter says:

I tried to tell you all several month ago this was going in a bad direction. But as usual you just called me names,an called me a radical,so just keep on believing that it is not being talked about.A string can take only so much pressure before it breaks.
