I’m sure most of you do not need any convincing that Glenn Beck is little more than a con artist who has found a way to make millions by exploiting the fears of the feeble-minded people he calls his audience. But this one was too good to pass up.
Beck has been on a rampage ripping into Feisal Abdul Rauf, the guy behind the Islamic center to be built two blocks from Ground Zero. Beck has been portraying him as a terrorist sympathizer. Specifically he has attacked Rauf for making the following statements.
A) “I wouldn’t say the United States deserved what happened on 9-11, but the United States’ policies were an accessory to the crime that happened.”
B) “When people said they hate us [the U.S.], well, did we deserve 9-11? No. But were we minding our business? No. Were we in bed with dictators and abandoned our values and principles? Yes. That causes problems.”
You can debate whether Rauf was right or not in making these statements but Beck has no such doubts and sees it as a direct attack on the country he loves and further proof that Rauf cannot be trusted.
Oops. Did I say Rauf made both statements? Sorry, my mistake. Rauf made the first statement. The second one (B) was made by no other than Glenn Beck himself on April 15, 2010. If you can see any difference between the two, let me know because I sure as heck can’t.

“Mom, can we talk?”
“Sure, dear. What’s up?”
“I’m really concerned about the deficit and stuff. I think the government’s spending too much money.”
“Oh, now, dear, I think you just have an overactive imagination. The president says everything is just fine.”
“Yeah, but…”
“Oh, go on and play now. Deficits don’t really matter, dear. Alan Greenspan said so himself. Here…go buy yourself some ice cream.”
“Gee, thanks, Mom.”
Flash Forward: Sometime Between 2009 and 2010
“Mom, can we talk?”
“Whaddya want?”
“I’m still really concerned about the deficit and stuff. I think the government’s spending too much money.”
“Yeah, well, you can blame that socialist America-killer Obama. It’s all his fault! He and those Marxist thugs Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and their socialist-Marxist commie giveaways. Unbelievable! They come waltzing into town and run up the deficit like they’re high on meth. Deficits matter, you know! They matter a lot! Deficits matter more than anything else! Just ask Alan Greenspan—he knows! As long as Democrats are in power, you are so screwed. Now go get me a beer.”
Flash Forward: The Next GOP Presidency
“Mom, can we talk?”
“Sure, dear. What’s up?”
“I’m really concerned about the deficit and stuff. I think the government’s spending too much money.”
“Oh, now, dear, you just have an overactive imagination like your older sister. The president says everything is just fine. So don’t you worry your pretty little head, Punkin’. He has everything under control. Besides, deficits don’t really matter. Even Alan Greenspan says so, and he’s 125 so that makes him very wise. Here…go buy yourself some ice cream.”
“Gee thanks, Mom!”

‘One more terror attack…because there have been three on Obama’s watch in the first year. One more on our soil, you know, a major one where you get dead bodies…he is done.”
And what exactly is it that Republicans and conservatives want more than anything else? To take over Congress and the White House? Absolutely.
Would a “few dead bodies” almost guarantee that for them? Probably.
From my last post…
“…a successful act of terrorism on American soil is exactly what some on the right secretly hope for. In their perverted order of priorities, it would guarantee them victory in 2012.”

Birthers, teabaggers and the religious right are the conservative’s trifecta of bigotry, hatred and intolerance.
Amanda Simpson, who was named by President Obama to be senior technical adviser for the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security, has worked in the field for over 30 years. But prominent figures on the religious right are claiming that she was picked only as part of some transsexual agenda.
“Is there going to be a transgender quota now in the Obama administration?” asked Peter LaBarbera, president of the anti-gay group Americans for Truth. “How far does this politics of gay and transgender activism go? Clearly this is an administration that is pandering to the gay lobby.”
Matt Barber, associate dean at Jerry Fallwell’s Liberty University, said the appointment “boggles the mind” and said that while African-Americans might deserve special treatment, transgender people don’t.
Kudos to the president on this one for doing what’s right and choosing the best qualified person regardless of their sexual orientation. As for the religious right, their phony shtick has gotten tiresome. These holier-than-thou bigots and purveyors of hate wield a bible like a bludgeon attempting to squash anyone who does not fit into their narrow interpretation of decency.
The only thing that “boggles the mind” here is trying to understand how delusional evangelicals still have the audacity to call themselves followers of a merciful Christ.

“The special election for the 23rd Congressional District is an important test leading up to the mid-term 2010 elections. Our best chance to put responsible and principled leaders in Washington starts here, with Dede Scozzafava.”
November 4: Rush Limbaugh on the Democratic win in NY-23.
“But, the right message; we cannot forget how this whole thing happened in the first place. There was not a primary. The right message here would indict the way party bosses, Republican Party bosses and these big thinkers like Newt screwed the whole thing up from the get go.”
“I think the nomination was a mistake. I wish that we had gotten involved earlier. And if we had, I would have done everything I could to make sure she had not been picked. And she clearly proved in the last few days that she [Dede Scozzafava] was in no way a loyal Republican.”
Gingrich becomes another repub willing to bow at the feet of Limbaugh as the fate of the Republican party rests largely in the hands of a pompous, lying, egoistic ‘entertainer’.
