Republicans Believe Obama “Stole” The 2008 Election

Republican Strategy - lies and weak minds http://mariopiperni.com/

.

Here is why misinformation and lies need to be dealt with at every turn.

The new national poll from Public Policy Polling (D) has an astonishing number about paranoia among the GOP base: Republicans do not think President Obama actually won the 2008 election — instead, ACORN stole it.

This number goes a long way towards explaining the anger of the Tea Party crowd. They not only think Obama’s agenda is against America, but they don’t think he was actually the choice of the American people at all! Interestingly, NY-23 Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman is now accusing ACORN of stealing his race, and Fox News personalities have often speculated about ACORN stealing the 2008 Minnesota Senate race for Al Franken.

The poll asked this question: “Do you think that Barack Obama legitimately won the Presidential election last year, or do you think that ACORN stole it for him?” The overall top-line is legitimately won 62%, ACORN stole it 26%.

Among Republicans, however, only 27% say Obama actually won the race, with 52% — an outright majority — saying that ACORN stole it, and 21% are undecided.

And to quiet down those who will instantly point to liberals feeling that Bush did not win the 2000 election…

Al Gore empirically won the national popular vote in 2000, and lost in a disputed recount process in Florida. By comparison, John McCain lost the national popular vote by a 53%-46% margin.

In order to believe that Obama wasn’t the true winner of the 2008 election, one would have to think that ACORN (and perhaps other groups) stuffed ballots to the tune of over 9.5 million votes, Obama’s national margin.

This amazing level of delusion does not happen on its own. It’s a concerted effort by Republicans, conservatives and the right-wing media to beguile and distort at each and every opportunity.  Calculatingly throw out as much bullshit as they possibly can with the knowledge that eventually a majority of their hapless followers will be foaming at the mouth.

The only recourse liberals have in dealing with the lying scum is to state the truth as many times as they need to…and to just plow ahead with their agenda.  When dealing with this degree of trash (aka GOP, far-right morons, Fox, etc.), bipartisanship is not an option.

  1. Tennessean says:

First, all the “bsfc” libs don’t start crying. I think the election results were certainly accurate enough.

But mathematically speaking, wouldn’t only half that amount, or approximately 4,700,000 votes require some sort of tampering? One vote NOT for Obama would have been (theoretically speaking) a vote for McCain so only half that amount would require some sort of tampering.

And I think it is overwhelmingly obvious ACORN put SOME amount of doodie in the game. If ACORN wasn’t so heavily involved and so obviously corrupt, perhaps there would be less cause for concern.

  2. janine says:

Why do you think Acorn waited until this election cycle to use their powers? why not when Al Gore was running?

  3. Anonymous says:

@Tenn: First of all, no one cries because you think or don’t think this President won legitimately. And if *anyone* stole an election, it was YOUR boy, Bush who ripped the rug right out from under Kerry. I’m calling Bellevue now to make sure they have room for the rest of the crazies on their psych ward. Gotta go! ;-)

I do not want this one to say Anonymous. It is most definitely from Anomaly. I have never seen such a group of nuts in my life. Republicans are sore losers. Get a damn grip on yourselves.

  4. Tennessean says:

janine, did they?? And was Al tied in with them as heavily as Obama?

  5. Tennessean says:

Chester, I’ll try to state this simply enough that you will be able to comprehend it.

  6. janine says:

    @Tennessean

what are you stating simply and who is Chester?

  7. Frances says:

Prior to the 2008 election, Republican operatives went door to door in a poor section of my hometown passing out fliers to old people saying they should vote on Wednesday instead of Tuesday because so many people would be voting.

Frances, first hand info or Urban Legend? I find that difficult to believe.

  9. Tennessean says:

Janine, well…I’m surprised. I figured I would confuse Chester with that one. I’m surprised you didn’t get it. ;-)

  10. Frances says:

Tennessean, it was on the local news, the people were identified and arrested.

  11. Anomaly100 says:

@CrazyPerson: Chester died a terrible death today. A group of right wing pastors prayed for his death. His legs kicked as he lay on the ground, his body twisted in agony. His legs kicked again, once, twice, then fell limp as his face fell against the asphalt, blood pouring out of his nose & mouth. Sarah Palin came running up to Chester & asked him, “Wha..uh..er..d…I am…and..er..” Chester died before she could finish her 30 minute verbal omlette. Please be kind and remember Chester for who he was…a figment of Tennessean’s twisted mind. RIP Chester!!

I know you loved Chester because you wrote him everyday, filling his Inbox with mind boggling emails, but you need to face it. Your love, Chester, is dead.

  13. Melody Brynne says:

Perhaps it’s time to clear up this ACORN thing. I am a trained journalist so I did my homework on this before writing this. Here is what really happened with ACORN.

ACORN, in trying to help the homeless and the very poor, tried to give them jobs. They sent them out to register voters. Some of those people, unfortunately, were lazy and just either went to phone books or made up names or used fictional characters. They then brought those fake voter registrations back to the ACORN office. ACORN then went to check out those cards and immediately recognized the fake and fictional names. This caused them to cast suspicion on all the cards turned into them by those people.

Those cards were immediately thrown out and ACORN itself turned those people in to law enforcement to be dealt with. Hear that right, ACORN itself reported the fraud to law enforcement and made sure that none of those cards were allowed in their files. All cards are checked against earlier voter registration files, census data, and other records before being allowed to be entered for the current election cycle. They also demand to see ID. Also, since I am myself a voter registrar and have been a judge of elections, I do know that in order for a voter registration card to be accepted as legal, the person filling out the card must show State ID and proof of residency like a utility bill, rent receipt, lease, etc..

ACORN at no time ever entered false cards into the system and, in fact, put a stop to those who tried to falsify records. They fired those who made such attempt and NO election has EVER had any question about being tainted by false cards submitted by ACORN. It is high time that such false accusations against ACORN stop! It is just nonsense and there are no facts on the ground to support such accusations. Let’s put this one to rest right now!

  14. Tennessean says:

Melody, and that’s why they laughed and encouraged child prostitution?

(I know, I know. Save it.)

Or if you really want to continue to shovel out that (What is it Frances?? :-)) perhaps that’s why they are under investigation in How Many States??

Just because you donated your efforts to a multi million dollar, corrupt organization doesn’t make them honest. And when did ACORN report itself? Before or after the National News Reports?

    http://rottenacorn.com/activityMap.html

Respectfully, I think it’s going to take more than a testy comment from an overly zealous, volunteer employee of ACORN to “put this one to rest.”

  15. Tennessean says:

Chester, I have it from reliable sources. A direct quote from Chester:

“The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov-1S8Xxd94&feature=related

(Sorry Mark. But that Chester is a plagiaristic little booger.)

  16. Frances says:

    LMAO Anomaly100

  17. Tennessean; Your first post was somewhat far-fetched, but it does demand a rational response. Firstly, it is possible that a collection of groups could stuff 4.7 million votes into the process, but that is not the question. The question is how does a group like ACORN pull that off? If you were to compile all of the reports from the fall of 2008, you would find several huundred thousand registrations were questioned. This is a disturbing number, but somewhat less than 4.7 million. Furthermore, these were questionable registration forms, not instances where ineligible voters went to the polls. One example is Indiana, where hysterical early reporting showed tens of thousands of potentially bad forms. The problem for the blame the ACORN crowd is that Indiana, like many other states require photo ID…meaning that someone could have registered Big Bird to vote, but nobody would be able to show up and do the deed. You might not like him, but Barack Obama was elected, legitamately, by the second largest percentage of Americans in history. Only the Gipper himself in 1984 was more popular.

  18. Anomaly100 says:

@CrazyDude: Who is Mark? Is he a real person or a fictional person you speak to? OK, if you must know, I saw Chester die. I would appreciate it if you didn’t bring this up again. He died in my arms & his blood is still soaked in my blouse. I felt his last breath in my arms. I saw him roll his eyes at Sarah Palin just before he died. Chesstterrr!!

Perhaps your man crush on Chester is making you batty.

  19. Tennessean says:

Michael, I didn’t question anything other than the mathematical accuracy of the stated amount of votes that would have needed to be tampered with.

Please re-read my comment paying particular attention to my 2nd. sentence.

Now, if you think my math is wrong (I wouldn’t be surprised) then by all means, have at it.

  20. Tennessean says:

I’m a “crazy dude” but Chester isn’t familiar with one of the best known quotes from one of the most popular and well known authors in the history of the United States.

Nope…NOPE Chester….quit yapping now and get Spike to help you out with this link. Then thank me for broadening your literary horizons. :-)

    http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/368850.html

  21. Melody Brynne says:

No national organization that I am aware of has ever claimed to have a perfect group of employees. They would have been “translated” into heaven if that were the case! When bad employees turn up, the company fires them and launches an investigation of what happened. That very thing is happening with ACORN. They found some bad employees, fired them, instituted an investigation by an outside independent, respected group, then launched a complete retraining of all employees in those offices. They have acted responsibly and efficiently and effectively.

As for those “investigations” in those “several states”, the right wing-nuts have launched those as a matter of harassment and not one of those court cases ever proved ACORN at fault in any of those cases. In fact, many of those cases are linked up with the disgraced Attorney General’s office under Pres. Bush where the Repubs were trying to use the Attorney General’s office for political, partisan purposes. These cases are now seen to stink to high heaven as cases that should never have been brought. Bush era people really crossed the line on this one. You should do your homework better Tenn.!

  22. Tennessean says:

Melody, ACORN is under investigation in what? 10 or more States? And it’s all because Bush done it.

    Got it.

  23. Anomaly100 says:

@RWNJ: The famous, noted author you’re referring to, you called, “Mark”! Mark! F-ing hell. Why not call William Shakepeare, “Ol Shakey!” You’re condescending manner, devoid of humor, holier than thou, clueless beyond belief, a person without intellect, besides what he can scrounge up in his pocket sized Websters Dictionary makes me feel nothing but pity for you. You dismiss credible remarks by others with a wave of your hand, & all of this has formed the snarky one, once called Larry, now called, “Tennessean”. How sad your life must be. YOU could never “broaden my horizens.” Who do you think you are! :-(

  24. Frances says:

TN, if you want to broaden Anomaly’s literary horizons, try using Twain’s actual quote:

“The report of my death was an exaggeration.”

  25. Tennessean says:

Frances, sorry. I can’t afford 11 fact checkers for each of my comments. But while you’re at it, I did find numerous variations of the quote, all attributed to Mark Twain.

I just found it funny that I’m being called a “crazy dude” by someone that first, can’t decide if I’m a dude or dudette, and second, is ignorant of one of the best known quotes of one of the best known American authors in history.

  26. Tennessean says:

Chester, if you put the quote and the author’s first name in a paragraph together, most 2nd grade students would have recognized who you are talking about.

If you find my attitude toward you condescending…..well….I’ve succeeded.

    Thank you.

  27. Frances says:

TN, being attributed to Mark Twain is not the same thing as being said or written by Mark Twain.

You have nothing to say, no valid arguments to make, no pertinent answers to anyone’s questions here. All you have is a rather stupid way of diverting discussions when they don’t go your way.

BTW, rottenacorm.com is a web site put up by corporate lobbyist Richard Berman on behalf of unnamed clients. You are being played. You will always be played.

  28. Tennessean says:

Frances, read my comment again…slowly this time. I don’t have the time nor inclination to assist you with reading comprehension. I figure you’re a relatively intelligent lady. You figure it out on your own.

Then, go back over the comments and see who responded to “me” rather than to the comment. I responded to mario’s post. I responded on topic to those that responded “on topic”.

When some little yapping, sycophant chihuahua commented doing nothing but nipping at my heels like some irritating little dog, I responded in kind.

BTW…is Rotten Acorn any less a reliable source than a career volunteer worker for ACORN? In my opinion, No.

Other than that, there are probably several thousand sites and sources out there detailing ACORN scum. Take your pick if you don’t like the one I referenced.

  29. Anonymous says:

@cRaZyAsS: Frances has got you down pat. You divert subjects when you have no defense. As far as memory is concerned & not remembering a quote of Mark Twain’s, well, that’s another diversion. It’s also none of your business & does not reflect the subject we’re discussing. Talking down to others is another pathetic tactic to change the subject because you’ve been proved wrong…again. The way you speak to Melody in this thread shows the world that you are threatened by her as well as Janine & Frances. You are not brainiac in Smallville & this is no game. You are cruel & distasteful, a true Republican. You are wrong on every comment in this thread & you are long winded. You *do* need 11 fact checks with every one of your long winded comments! Their comments are fact based & yours are a figment of your warped mind. Your intolerance of others is not unique. It’s a fact your party holds dear.

By the way, the name, “Tennessean” could be a female or a male’s name. Why do you think I can see your gender through my monitor? I think you know who wrote this. It was not intended to be anonymous. I would never hide from so one so small. ;-)

  30. Frances says:

Tennessean, how does it feel to be played by greedy corporate bastards?

  31. Tennessean says:

Chester, can you not think for yourself? Do you have to piggyback the remarks of others?

I know you don’t understand, so allow me to explain. That is exactly why I refer to you as “Chester”. You’re like the little dog in the cartoon. No direction of your own. Just whatever the “big boys: do, you’ll tag along or jump on the bandwagon.

You and your “Spike” du jour, Frances (and before you go off on me Frances, that is not intended as a slight) go back over the comments and see who went off topic. In particular Chester, go back over your comments. Not a single one of them addresses the original post. But yet, you accuse me of always changing the subject.

I was the first to comment on Mario’s post. I then responded to the comments of others. If they were about the topic, then I responded to the topic, If, as virtually every one of your comments were, they were stupidity, well, I responded in kind.

I’ve asked you before and I’ll nicely ask you again. Please lay off. I don’t mind you taking shots at me. But at least do it in the context of the topic. YOU are the one making it about ME. And it’s not becoming of you. I’m sure you are a perfectly nice, mature, 49 year old lady and frankly, I think you are embarrassing yourself.

Besides that, you’re getting very boring.

  32. Tennessean says:

Frances, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

But if you knew anything about me at all, you’d understand that while not impossible, it is very difficult for anyone to “play” me.

“I been around boys. I been all over. Been everywhere in the whole wide world.”

    ~Tom Waits again (Pony)

But the greatest line in that song and one of the better lines in lyrical history:

“I was full of wonder, when I left Murfreesboro.
Now I am full of hollow on Maxwell street…
And I hope my Pony…….Knows the way back home”

  33. Anonymous says:

@RWNJ: You want to talk about “boring?” Sure, I can do that. You have 14 comments on this thread & many are long winded, while saying nothing. I have 4. This is not your world. I can comment, when I want to comment & I don’t need your permission. At least my comments aren’t always the size of an Encyclopedia set. Now, get over yourself & get a grip.

I have no reason to be embarrassed. You’re doing a fine job all by yourself. You have not won the respect of anyone here that I can see. It might be because you keep calling people “stupid” when in fact, that particular shoe, fits you nicely. ;-)

  34. Tennessean says:

Chester, if your encyclopedia set is the size of my comments, that would explain a lot.

  35. Frances says:

TN, if the only thing you wish to be is a nuisance, then you have succeeded and you may quit now. Congrats on that.

As Melody already told you, the ONLY reason people are aware of the ACORN registration issues is because ACORN reported them – because even if some of their employees don’t follow the law, the organization does. Do you get thrown in jail when an employee gets a DUI or beats his wife?

And BTW, Anomaly’s very first post to this thread was about the subject and a rebuttal of your point. You are the one that countered with an arcane, off-topic reply. So try to be a little bit more aware before you go shooting off your mouth and scolding people for supposedly doing what you do so consistently and annoyingly. You’re in a big ‘ole glass house and we can see your underwear.

  36. Tennessean says:

Frances, you are in error almost completely with your comment.

Melody’s statement is incorrect. The reason people are aware of ACORN’s illegitimate activity is because it was blasted across national t.v.

And if you think Chester’s first post was relevant to the subject I suggest you read again. It was about 99% a moronic, imbecilic attempt at an attack on me.

I don’t really care. I’m a big boy. I can handle anything any of you are capable of dishing out on your best day. Just be honest about it.

“You’re in a big ‘ole glass house and we can see your underwear.”

Trust me. You hope not. ;-)
