Limbaugh on the “Prosperous” Bush Years

.
Rush Limbaugh http://mariopiperni.com/
.
Why are people on the right so horribly misinformed? Or to rephrase the question, why are there so many really stupid people on the right?  Well there’s a number of reasons we can explore but here’s one that just sort of jumps out at you: they tend to listen to people like Beck and this guy.

Rush Limbaugh:

“You remember, ladies and gentlemen, when Clinton won the presidency in 1992, in that election, he said something like, “The era of greed and selfishness is over.” He was talking about the eight years of prosperity, actually 12 years, well second-term Reagan and first-term Bush — only term Bush. Eight years of prosperity — “The era of greed and selfishness is over.” Now after eight years of prosperity under Bush 43, we are again seeing the seething hate for profits. And this is — the left never changes, it’s who they are. You’re never ever going to totally beat them back, that’s why you can’t give up any day.”

Anyone who can make that statement with a straight face and have a few million fools believe him, deserves all the money he can make.

that’s the world they live in, you could look up job creation during the Bush years and compare to the Clinton years keeping in mind that by the end of Clinton’s second term the government was running surpluses, but the conservative mind set will not acknowledge it will come up with all kinds of agreements against any dem and in favor of the GOP/conservatives. you could argue with them about job creation and they will cite the need for tort reform even though this has already been done.they also want more free trade agreements like that really goes well for us. there is no such think as free trade.
    http://www.businessweek.com/autos/autobeat/archives/2009/11/contrasting_for.html
free trade only works among like minded people.
they will talk about fiscal responsibility but they seemed to have run up a lot of debt under Reagan and the 2 Bush’s.

  3. Frances says:

Yeah, I look back at the 80′s as the “Layoff Decade”. Prosperity my ass.

  4. Jerry T says:

I wish I’d not eaten before that.
You know I think part of the problem in this country regarding the democrats grabbing the majority followed by a “Liberal” President is that the 90′s were the decade of “The Little Entrepreneur That Could”. All these wannabe’s . The next big product, venue or idea that would sweep the nation whether it’s the delusional former friend of mine who opened a tiny chocolate shop in Connecticut with dreams of franchising her name – she’s now close to closing – she was going to be on Oprah – in her dreams – she was going to be the next Martha.
That Oprah word. The treacle of that infusion of the dream big and don’t stop and it will happen…yeah if you have enough friends and relatives with deep pockets and little ability to say no.
I know personally and even more sickeningly from seeing them all over the Internet these people with small businesses who may be hovering closely on either side of a six figure income – and that’s the fairly successful ones – but there is a mindset in some of these wannabe entrepreneurs of that ilk who since they got the first bottle of the the gasoline additive, natural laundry detergent, gluten free muffin all nicely packaged and in their greedy little hands they began counting their millions and worrying about taxes.

There really is this mass delusion fueled by these positive thinking gurus who are of course positive they’ve gotten filthy rich doing seminars on TV or they came up with some ridiculously stupid little plastic utilitarian doo dad that got picked up by one of the TV marketing companies then did indeed create a fortune and during the last decade while people who had no business doing so were busy getting mortgages they couldn’t afford for homes they had no business buying and everyone was “Visualizing their dreams” relentlessly, this culture of people who haven’t a pot to piss in but still they are millionaires if only in those dreams and it is those people – the ones in my life very liberal socially – who have turned rabidly conservative fiscally and I know for a fact that it is exactly because of the scenario I’ve just described.
It’s an epidemic. I mean I have long been a proponent of positive thinking but I have news for those just learning it as a philosophy for making major things happen in life…it sometimes still takes luck, connections and money that doesn’t grow on trees.

People who are not millionaires, Not in that upper 2% who need to wake up and first admit that they might have to settle for much smaller realizations of their dreams that might not resemble their original delusions at all and also remember. You’re not one of the wealthiest people in the world you just think you’re going to be because of all the talent bereft morons you see on TV step in it, get on some idiotic show, then get a book deal and poof dreams come true.
But does that mean whether it happens or not – and most likely it’s a NOT – these people don’t see what monsters they’re turning into and they haven’t even gotten out of the debt for starting whatever their endeavor is that may never come to be. All because they have this mass disease of “I’m going to be rich and famous and I’m not going to pay taxes to feed and take care of lazy poor people”. A group of which they’re still many of them a part.

For this epidemic I sometimes think I want to blame President Clinton for all his great qualities. There are some people who dream big and imagine the good they’ll do for others when they hit big and there are those – sadly too many of the ones who do make it – who while still struggling are turning into monsters of greed absent of empathy. Suddenly, if they ever were, incapable of caring about the needy, the underprivileged , the ones among us who will never get up out of the hole they’re in whether they dug it themselves or where buried in it by life.

It is these monsters of greed who are the people who are the most dangerous consumers of the bilge people like Limbaugh & Beck appeal too. The people who buy into these lies and are not stupid people because they can get out there and do damage. They are smart enough to tow the party line and follow these evil leaders from the media into the dark side.
Are they still some sort of stupid for listening to these hate merchants? Of course on some level but I fear them more than the truly uneducated, rural, cliff apes with guns who listen to these pigs. I fear those, despite their proximity to crime, killing someone or trying to.

It’s the educated idiots who buy this trash from a place of greed, that nerve that these demons purposely strike like a chord on a piano.

    It’s all so sick.

People have maligned the Kennedy’s for decades for their personal mistakes and peccadilloes but they are the ones who have never bothered to learn that they were a family who had a mother who began hammering the absolute duty of public service into their minds while they were still in short pants and it took.
What person in power dare throw open their closets who has never done a single thing for another human being.

What’s wrong with this country. Now we have people who are only as wealthy as their credit limits pounding their chests declaring the liberals are all scum because all they do is “tax and spend”
It seems a common symptom of the epidemic the syndrome of picking up the catch phrases and now the talking points as if they’re literally politicians.

Whether you have or have not. You will only be enriched by doing for others. Then the good things will come to you. Not by joining these hate mongers in spitting on everything and everyone you dare deem beneath you.

  5. defolts says:

Jerry, except for the Clinton part there really is nothing I can disagree with.
