Conservative Austin Bramwell weighs in on Sam Tanenhaus’ book, The Death of Conservatism with his own take on the movement’s decadent state.

“The conservative movement isn’t dangerous or “revanchist;” it’s just boring.  Right-wing intellectuals should eschew the movement and reintegrate into the mainstream, not because the movement threatens the Republic, but because freedom of thought can only be found outside of it.”

So while the Bramwells question where their party is headed, the Palins, Limbaughs and Becks continue to steer it down the path of irrelevance.

There are important things to hold on to and other things to let go. However important the Constitution,it has to grow with the times. It has been proven in industry that if you don’t modernize, you will be left behind by the more imaginative. Republicans need to wake up and find a brighter future or another party may be on the sides waiting. Young people will do that. The young will realize that our gunslinging seniors, who will defend the worst of what we are, can only be replaced by updated standards that relinquish colonialism and encourage non-military long term relationships with the world. We the people will show that politics do not belong to politicians but to us and they will do what we want and need. We need better health care and that is what we are going to get. If we can spend billions to go to the moon and mars,we can spend billions for better health are. Let’s stop looking at other worlds and start dealing with our own.
