Ahhhhhh….But here would be the interesting and telling statistic. And enquiring minds want to know……
How many of them acquired their wealth AFTER they became Public Servants??
I’d like to know the same thing as….Tennessean!! What’s happening to meeeee!
I would like to know *how* they acquired this wealth, but probably for different reasons than TN. Also, don’t you really feel for #25) Kenny Marchant (R-Texas)who makes a meager $27,363,295? A mere pittance! The poor guy.
It’s kinda obvious how Jay Rockefeller acquired his. It’s also pretty easy to research these people and see where their money came from. I know Warner was an entrepreneur before he was a politician.
@Frances: I just looked a few of them up & you’re exactly right. They had money before they were in a political office. Of course, there’s always money that was gained by the well known politicians from the insurance companies. They made tons of money from then, which should prove they have only their interests at heart. Republicans don’t seem bothered by this.
Issa started a car alarm company, Harman’s husband was the Harman part of Harman/Kardon, Kohl was one of the Heirs to the Kohl family of Milwaukee, WI, (hometown) they started the Kohls dept store chain and there were grocery stores at one time, they also developed 2 major shopping malls in the early 70s and some apts and condos. Warner is a Tech millionaire,Harman isn’t exactly liberal.
Anomaly, they gained money only from insurance companies?
@Tennessean: I did not say “They gained money ONLY from insurance companies” did I? You can’t deny that a lot of them (Democrats included) made truckloads of money from them & that is putting their financial gains before us, the voters, THEIR voters. Their priorities are distorted. Listen, it’s time to celebrate! We’re on our way to getting *everyone* in our country health coverage. Only ONE Republican voted for it & he’s from Louisiana. Jindal territory. So, put your dictionary down & have a glass of wine!
Anomaly, this may be difficult for you to comprehend, but a Question Mark (?) at the end of a sentence normally indicates it is a “Question” and not a “statement”.
AARP, the Pharmaceutical Companies and the AMA, to cite just a few, stand to make huge financial gains from Obamacare. Do you think they didn’t pump money into support for this travesty?
I wonder how many Romans toasted with a glass of wine as Nero was fiddling??
BTW, the lone Republican vote came from a Republican Congressman from a Democratic District. Just as some of the Democrats got the green light from leadership to vote against the bill as it would have been damaging to them politically to support it, and their vote was not needed, I’m sure the same could have been true for this Republican.
@Tennessean: It was a “rhetorical” question. Now, run along & look up rhetorical with that dictionary you’re clutching. You weren’t asking me anything. Now don’t be so condescending because I see right through you. As far as Nero, what the hell are you babbling about now? You are dying for me to say something to you to get kicked out of Mario’s blog. I noticed this particularly when you were baiting people about your father & sister. I don’t have even a speck of respect for you.
