Birther Wars

Barack Obama's birth certificate

.

.

Here are the latest stories making the rounds in the nutty world of Obama birth certificate deniers.  First we have the case of Alan Keyes who has never recovered from the trashing he took when he lost his bid in 2004 to win an Illinois State Senate seat.  The guy who beat him in that contest was named…hmmm…oh yes…Barack Obama.

Supporters of a case that disputes the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s presidency claimed a small victory today when U.S. District Judge David O. Carter told them to fix their paperwork and that he would listen to “the merits” of their case. But others present for the hearing Monday at the federal courthouse in Santa Ana stressed that the case remains a long way from ever getting a full airing in court and may never get to that point.

The case, Alan Keyes, et al. v Barack H. Obama, et al. was filed on Inauguration Day and is one of a raft of suits alleging Obama is ineligible to be president because he is not a “natural born citizen.” Such claims have fared badly in court to date. In December, for example, the Supreme Court dismissed without comment a case challenging Obama’s right to take the oath of office.

And then there’s this one

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, set to deploy to Afghanistan, says he shouldn’t have to go.

His reason?

Barack Obama was never eligible to be president because he wasn’t born in the United States.

…Cook’s belief that Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and is therefore ineligible to serve as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Cook further states he “would be acting in violation of international law by engaging in military actions outside the United States under this President’s command. … simultaneously subjecting himself to possible prosecution as a war criminal by the faithful execution of these duties.”

See. I told you the right has all the good crackpots.  Not fair.

Is there no end to the delusional tendencies of the Obama haters?

  2. Dino says:

This coward is looking for a reason to not serve. Coward.

  3. StephanieD says:

It more likely has to do with the color of the President’s skin.

  4. Madness Now says:

@ Stephanie. I agree. If all this major wanted was an out from deployment then all he had to do was claim he was gay. The birther’s agenda is racist based.

  5. Maxene says:

this guy is an idiot. He’s following the lead of orly taitz.Trying 2 file suit in Fed Crt against Obama being president

  6. Orly Is A KOOOOK says:

    Court martial and imprison him.

Some right wing crackpot (Orly Taitz) convinced him that, not only could they win the case but that it would benefit the conservative cause. Sad and stupid.

  7. I have news for all the crackpots! Senator Durbin who is very senior in the U.S. Senate, has personally verified the birth certificate and has known Obama for many years. He knows his family, etc. He thinks these people are very sad cases. I agree! When will they wake up to reality?!

  8. Janine says:

Creative argument to use to avoid deployment. I wonder if he’s a member of a hate group

  9. Heavy says:

Why is it that pursuit of truth is called racism by you sick, twited people? Answer: YOU are the racists and you think that, by casting your vote for THE ONE, you will be absolved of your own racist past.

    Nice try!

  10. DonLA says:

Pursuit of truth is good but you know quite well that the birther nonsense is not about truth. It’s about unbridled, illogical hatred for Barack Obama. The hatred comes from a variety of reasons but can probably be classified as hatred for Obama’s politics, hatred for his color or both.

As for birthers, they come in one of these flavors, stupid, racist or both. There is no middle ground.

  11. Maxene says:

Heavy, the truth has been persued and verified. Records have checked out. See Melody Brynne response above for that.

One more thing, and I’ll be brief, Watch the name calling, esp. watch who yoyu call racist.

Question to myself, why am I responding to this lunatic?

    Have a nice day.

  12. LiberalsRs....d says:

@Dino…He’s a Major so he’s been in the service for a while. I wonder if he has a record of prior service in either war zone? I wonder if there is any evidence in his record to suggest he may be a coward?

@melody…Senator Dick Durbin is a Radical Liberal Democrat. What makes his word sacred on this particular matter?

This is the same Durbin that made the following statement about US Soldiers:

“If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings.”

Durbin is not someone who has earned the blind trust of anyone.

@maxene….why would it not be racist to categorize everyone who has complaint with President Obama as “racist”?

  13. DonLA says:

He was talking about the vermin who disgraced the country through their actions at Abu Ghraib. He was not speaking of the forces at large. Keep it straight.

  14. Maxene says:

@LiberalsRs. Yes indeed. Get it straight. When did I say that everyone who has a complaint with Obama is racist. I think you need to work on your reading comprehension, then get back to me.

  15. LiberalsRs....d says:

@don….in the quest to “keep it straight”, I thought you might be interested in the following:

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,160275,00.html

“After reading the horrible details in that memo which characterized the treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo, I then, on my own, my own words, made some characterizations about that memo … I have come to understand that was a very poor choice of words,” he (Turbin…err…Durbin) said.

    and…

“Sen. Dick Durbin went to the Senate floor late Tuesday to offer his apologies to anyone who may have been offended by his comparison of treatment of detainees at the U.S. military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Nazis, Soviet gulags and Cambodia’s Pol Pot.”

As you say Donnie, let’s “Keep it straight”.

  16. LiberalsRs....d says:

@maxene…I asked a question. Why did you take it personally? I had in mind more notable personalities like Garafalo and Begala. Surely you’re not guilty of the “bit dog howls the loudest” syndrome…..are you?

  17. DonLA says:

Guantanamo. Not Abu Ghraib. My mistake. But the point I made is still valid. Criticism for Durbin should be not for making the statement but for retracting it. As great as our military is, it is not above reproach. The treatment of detainees at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib was a disgrace. Wrapping ourselves up in the flag and refusing to acknowledge our flaws only weakens us as a nation.

  19. Max says:

@Liberal, your memory must be failing you but you did ask ME in particular and so I responded in kind. As far as the bit dog analogy: There are two types of barking—the warning bark and the alarm bark. The first starts out as a rumbling, low-pitched growl, which gradually increases in volume and intensity as a full-blown howl meant to show DOMINANCE and AGGRESSION. That is you. The second type, on the other hand, is not hostile and is simply a dog’s way of calling attention to something in particular that needs it, such as a ringing phone or a car pulling up in the driveway or a TROLL commenting on a blog and he won’t stop barking unless these events are taken care of. That is more like me. I have not been bit, I have not even begun to growl, not even close to barking yet. Please bear in mind that a dog will growl before they bark and they will bark long and hard before they howl. Indeed wolves such as you are more apt to howl than dogs are, so get your facts straight. Now, you have a nice evening. I’m not about to debate a rabid dog, I mean angry troll…what the hell it’s all the same.

  20. LiberalsRs....d says:

@donnie….spoken like a true American. Surprising even Durbin said his comments were over the top and he caught a lot of flak and criticism from all corners.

Guess they should have checked with you for the real skinny.

  21. LiberalsRs....d says:

@max….well, you’re just too smart for a dumb ol’ troll like me. I was just taking you at your own words. My Bad!

Maxie said “When did I say that everyone who has a complaint with Obama is racist.”

The “troll” explained himself in the simplest of terms. Apparently you were so busy working on the comprehension of others, you neglected your own.

And then, there is the dog that howls because he has been bitten.

Don’t flatter yourself. Based on what I’ve seen so far, if you want a debate, I’ve got an eight year old kid that you might fare better with.

You should do less name calling and put more thought into your comments.

  22. Maxene says:

Does he ever stop? This time I must agree with lubby. I am way too smart for a dumb troll like him. Hah! Lubby’s words. Speaking of which, has he ever bothered to review his comments. He accuses everyone of name calling yet he is the worst culprit. No room for a decent discussion here. Nor is there room for lively debate…but then again that is his reason for hanging around. Or perhaps he is a closet liberal and all he wants is love. Please say it ain’t so.

  23. LiberalsRs....d says:

@maxxie…..well there you go. So fortunate for me to have an effete intellectual like you who can reference flawed comments from an uninformed commenter under the guise of having made a point.

I am dazzled by your brilliance. I stand in humble admiration.

  24. Maxene says:

As you should! Now little boy, it’s time for you to go to bed.

  25. Sara B. says:

I hope they throw the book at Cook. Worried about war crimes, my left foot. Somehow I suspect if Bush ordered him to torture somebody he’d be right there.

  26. Joe C. says:

Did anyone check the facts? Looks like he gets a free ride from most of you, Was his father an American?
