A single video which brings you up to speed on all birther arguments.

It’s important to keep in mind that while we mock birthers (and rightfully so) as part of the lunatic fringe, there are Republican politicians both in and out of Congress who have fed the birther beast (here, here, here and here). Forty-five percent of Republicans now say that they believe Barack Obama to have been born outside of the U.S.
Mainstream conservatives would rather you forget about birthers and never mention them. Don’t let them get away with it. Birtherism is linked to the Republican party in a serious way and it is only proper that you remind them of it at every instance. Let them pay a price for fostering lunacy within their ranks.

Senator David Vitter becomes the latest Republican politician to pay homage to the loony birther crowd.
“I personally don’t have standing to bring litigation in court,” Vitter said. “But I support conservative legal organizations and others who would bring that to court. I think that is the valid and most possibly effective grounds to do it.”
So is Vitter a birther? Sounds like he is but it is just as likely that GOP politicians like Vitter are reluctant to offend the fragile sensibilities of birthers who make up a third of the Republican base. Why upset the nutcases when GOPers are aware that the other two thirds of Republican voters who are not birthers are not bothered in the least by the crazies. They figure that any issue which puts doubt on Obama’s presidency is a good one regardless of its validity.
After all, slime is what Republicans do best.

Add up the numbers from the Vanity Fair/60 Minutes poll and you’ll find that 24% of Americans believe that Barack Obama was born outside the U.S. Then ask yourself what percentage of Americans you believe are hardcore racists.

One more time: birthers are nothing more than conservatives and racists unable to accept an intelligent, liberal, black man as President of the United States.
Here’s hoping this Colonel gets booted out of the Army with the dishonorable discharge he so deserves.
Right-wing extremists who question the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s presidency tried to take on local law enforcement recently — and they seem to have come out on the losing end.
First, a Tennessee man was arrested after walking into his local county courthouse to try to effect a citizen’s arrest of a grand jury foreman who had refused to investigate President Obama’s legitimacy to serve — an encounter partially caught on video. That enraged one Georgia-based member of the far-right OathKeepers group. Responding to a call from an extremist leader, he drove to Tennessee with an AK-47 in a bid to get his comrade released — only to wind up getting arrested himself.
Rachel Maddow does a nice summary of the incident.
