Obama Lectures Republicans

.

How good was the President at today’s Q&A with Republicans?

…Fox News cut away from the broadcast 20 minutes before it ended.

Ezra Klein

“Obama’s Q&A with the House Republicans is the most compelling political television I’ve seen…maybe ever.”

If you missed it, you can catch the entire encounter here.

Obama at his best.

“I don’t believe the American people want us to focus on our job security. They want us to focus on their job security.  I don’t think they want more gridlock. I don’t think they want more partisanship. I don’t think they want more obstruction. They didn’t send us to Washington to fight each other in some sort of steel-cage match to see who comes out alive.”

Translation: “Start doing what I want, dammit! I won the election! Plus, we Dems own the House AND the Senate, so forget about your so-called principled disagreement over the proper role of government in people’s lives…to hell with that ‘loyal opposition’ crap, and start agreeing with everything I want to accomplish, the WAY I want to accomplish it, got it?! I’m the frickin’ President of the United States: Do as I say!”

  2. janine says:

    @Brad,

oh really, the translation actually is “stop lying and hate mongering” and get to work on behalf of the people, not your political party, not the lobbyists and not the corporations.

Clearly you require English lessons and surgery to remove the Fox News feed from your brain

  3. Blue Heron says:

I was rivited! This should happen more often, like once a month. I was impressed with the emotion and no nonsense attitude of the President. I was watching between Fox and MSNBC and thought how typically chicken shit that they would cut away when they did. He needs to do this with the Dems too.

  4. Calgirl says:

That’s the Barack Obama I voted for!

  5. Hobbie says:

    My President ROCKS!!!

    Hobbs :)

  6. Frances says:

Pres. Obama against a room full of Republicans? Not a fair fight. For the Republicans. They were bested in every way and on all fronts. Obama exhibited prowess, insight, knowledge and alacrity. The Republicans exhibited talking points.

I can see where some people would interpret such a show of bravery and confidence as aggression and belligerence. Being intellectually bested is a bitter pill to swallow indeed.

  7. Frances says:

I was watching this on Huff Po and looking at the twitter feeds for Journalists, Progressives, and Conservatives. The Conservative feed virtually dried up when Fox cut away.
