The City of Temecula, California removed the above art work created by artist Jeff Hebron from an exhibit being held in a public space. The mayor gave the following reason for doing so.
“The city’s not in the censorship business. But neither does the city want the reputation of exposing children to art that’s not appropriate.”
“I’m not concerned about adults viewing art,” he said. “They can take care of themselves. It’s the children I’m concerned about.”
Concerned about what? About allowing children to view a part of the human body by way of art? Is society not yet over outdated Victorian era mores which do nothing more than instill shame and embarrassment in individuals over their own bodies?
Nudity for the mere sake of shock value is wrong. But nudity by way of artistic impression is not something anyone should ever fear. Geez, what is this? The 1850s?

Still recovering from whatever it is I have so I’ve been laying low and messing around with Photoshop.
I did want to mention though that if anyone is interested in a Andy Warhol like illustration (similar to the ones above for example) of a favorite photo (Christmas gift perhaps), drop me an email and we’ll work something out. The ones above are being blown up to poster size. If interested, send in your requests as soon as you can.

The first time I saw a Picasso live was at New York’s Guggenheim a number of years back. It was one of his early works before he ventured off into Cubism. A Picasso lover was born.
One of his signature pieces is Guernica, the gigantic (25′ wide x 11′ high) masterpiece depicting the horrors of war. In the following video, Guernica is masterfully brought to 3D life by use of software (Maya and After Effects).

Art experts believe they have identified a new Leonardo da Vinci — in part by examining a fingerprint on the canvas.
Peter Paul Biro, a Montreal-based forensic art expert, said Tuesday a fingerprint on what was presumed to be a 19th-century German painting of a young woman has convinced art experts that it’s actually a da Vinci.
Biro said Canadian-born art collector Peter Silverman bought “La Bella Principessa” at auction in 1997 for about $19,000. One London art dealer now says it’s worth over $150 million.
If experts are correct, it will be the first major work by da Vinci to be identified in 100 years.
Seeing original da Vinci drawings and manuscripts at an exhibit in New York a number of years back ranks as one of my top five spiritual experiences ever. Actually, it is number five on my list. Here are my top four.
4. Standing on the deck of Lady of the Mist at the foot of Niagara Falls with my 2-year-old son’s arms wrapped tightly around my neck, soaked to the skin, with the thunder of the Falls drowning out everything but my awareness of son, self and the majesty of nature.
3. Running my hand across the rough stone facade of a Frank Lloyd Wright building in Oak Park, Illinois.
2. Alone on the top ledge of a Mayan temple at Tulum on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula at a time when my passion and appreciation for pre-Columbian people and architecture was at its highest. Sitting there, looking out over the magnificent turquoise waters of the Caribbean, in a place where a mere 600 years before Mayans stood, is an image forever preserved in my head.
1a. 1b. 1c. Witnessing the birth of each of my three children and the sensation that ran through me at the first glimpse of their beautiful little faces.
There’s a bunch more of those waiting to happen (Pyramids at Giza, photographing wild animals from a jeep deep in Africa’s interior). If you’d like to share some of your moments, I’d love to hear them.
