I was just in NYC about a month ago, visiting a client at Two World Financial Center…there is an elevated walkway between OWF and TWF and I lingered there a moment to check progress on the WTC project – I was AMAZED that it was, then, still at the concrete deck at ground level. So, the progress shown in this picture, minimal as it is, was completed in approximately one month. Nonetheless, this project is INCHING along. No clue why the progress has been so painfully slow.
the progress has been slow due to bickering design changes and they did not start until very recently. you should really see this building rise next year. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=419362&page=608
the link above is constantly updated, and you usually can see daily progress on this site. I have not been to NYC since late 1991 but want to see how this turns out and the new Yankee stadium and other sites.
TN, I hope Signature gets built, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signature_Tower
although it looks doubtful.
Thanks for the update and the link! I get to NYC a couple times a year, although not usually in the vicinity of the tower (mostly midtown) – although, one would hope that it would be visible from just about anywhere in the city before TOO much longer. It was actually depressing to see how little progress had been made.
a whole shopping mall? or just a strip center?
where is this neighborhood?
this building spent about a year doing actual work for the site prep, then sub floors and now it is rising above ground, it should over 20 floors before spring and probably topped out sometime in 2011.
its a little slow but not too much, one of the other buildings is being built also.
I live in NYC & it’s been a slow process. I was here on 9/11. I’m not sure they should make this tower as high as they’d like. I feel it would be a target. What happened on that day is still fresh. I don’t know how we’d handle another 9/11. This is why I want the trial to take place here. We deserve to see these mass murderers get a taste of their own bad karma, which I’m sure will kick there hateful asses.
Seems contradictory to say on the one hand you want to have the trials in NY to show them what for. But on the other hand express concern for the building because you fear it would be a target.

I realize this is a high rise and all but a whole shopping mall went up in my neighborhood in just a little over two months.
Maybe “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” can do an “Extreme Makeover Freedom Tower Edition”

Strip Center, which seems like a whole mall to this small town person.
