Barefoot and Pregnant

thepill http://mariopiperni.com/

Seriously, what is wrong with these idiots?

Unable to turn the public against sex, the pro-life movement will be on the march Saturday trying to convince women that birth-control pills will kill them.

The right-wing American Life League and a handful of regional organizations will stand around outside U.S. pharmacies and Planned Parenthood chapters this weekend for the second annual “Protest the Pill Day.” Dispatches from last year’s protests, posted at thepillkills.com, offer a sense of what to expect.

From their website…

“For one hour the prayers were offered for the many uninformed patrons who come asking the staff of Planned Parenthood to provide chemicals, hormones, and sex-education as an answer to their problems.”

I could understand how one could be a pro-lifer – sanctity of life and religious beliefs and all.  Fine.  But to protest against a means by which women prevent themselves from being put in a position to ever have an abortion is beyond stupid.  Really.

Some of these idiots make the claim that the pill is equivalent to a monthly abortion.  In fact, the pill suppresses ovulation, whereby the ovum never gets fertilized because it is never created.

Behind the scenes, ALL and other right-wing groups are pushing state and local governments to deny women access to birth control and emergency contraception, as well as “fetal personhood” laws begging for a Supreme Court challenge.”

To paraphrase (with a minor change) that great intellectual Michael Savage, I ask…is conservatism a mental disorder?

I saw video of a minister in Alaska saying same stuff. OK.

I also watch a woman’s blog. Wife of a minister. She doesn’t believe in birth control. 5 kids. Teaching them all to hate. A home schooler. I won’t give the link, why expose more.

Please. Look to Bristol Palin. I didn’t name her the icon. She took that role herself.

  2. BlancaCarta says:

I don’t know if conservatism is a mental order but these people are deranged. The All Life League (ALL) is unbelievably ignorant. From Wiki,

“ALL’s mission is to end all forms of abortion without any exceptions for health, rape, incest, fetal abnormality, viability, or IVF.”

  3. informed Mom says:

Even my 12-year-old knows this: “How is it an abortion if the egg never gets fertilized?”

yes, I am grateful for sex-ed.

  4. I was a lay midwife for 10 years. I wonder if they would also condemn the Today vaginal sponge and using BBT as a combined method along with a condom close to ovulation time? That is the method I taught to help women get familiar with their own bodies and cycles and I even encouraged them to chart their BBT’s along with moods, events, etc., whatever was important to their lives. The sponge also has the added benefit of being able to be worn for 36 hours and could be at least a bit helpful in the event of rape because the rapist would be unaware that she is at least somewhat protected, sometimes in more ways than one.

Will they ever get it that a woman who can choose when to conceive or if to conceive allows them to make a joyful, full-hearted choice to bring a life here when the time is right and that that is far more likely to result in stronger, healthier, happier families with far less child abuse and neglect? Sigh. You’re right…they just don’t get it!

  5. Lantos says:

Here’s what these dingbats don’t get. They don’t get that they’re repressed, religious fools afraid of sex and terrified even more of their own bodies.

The gall of these people to think they have the right to impose their convictions on others. I recall reading somewhere that it is the daughters of these very people who are more likely to one day have an abortion. These people live in a cloud of ignorance and I for one have no patience for these petty ignoramuses who inflict harm upon the naive and innocent.

  6. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

So maybe they will also consider taking away the hormone replacement so those of us who use them will get out and have to show them who is boss!

Take away hormones of any kind and you change the body chemistry and we will not be held accountable! lol

You can send us to Aphganistan, Iraq, Iran, you name it and we will win and come home to our families victorious! lol

Now if you leave us alone and let us take our hormones for both birth control and hormone replacement then we will have happier and more relaxed women. Relaxed about birth control and happier with their bodies with the hormone replacement. It helps with keeping the calcium levels and I personally have bones that need to be as healthy as possible! I will take the risks.

  7. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

Amazing! So now if we have bacteria growing within us we are not to do anything because it is alive? Give me a break until when and where are we going to stop this madness!

Next we will not be able to eat chickens, pigs, animals. Not that that is that good of a thing either, but society bred us with this. It is the food chain developed by instincts so it cannot be bad either.

So stop the madness already. Get real people! Give us our hormones campaign is what we need here! Lets join to create it! Someone can do the website and we get it going to support: Give us our hormones! Give us our hormones!

    Anyone interested?

  8. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

You are so right Lantos. When I was growing up my Daddy took us to the west coast of the island to live away from the capital, San Juan. We were going to deal with people who were of different idyosincracies as we were. At least me. There was a school mate that lived on the same neighborhood and when I chose to date without a chaperone because I was already in college — her father who was a Knights of Columbus man, told my sister to let me know that I was not welcome there and that I should be excommunicated! Guess what his daughter has never been married and has had about 2 abortions and lost a child. Not that this is any of my business or that I am joyful for her misfortunes, but self-righteousness will eventually bite you in the ass!

  9. liberalsRs....d says:

I don’t care. I have no problem with birth control pills but they are not without risk. There are nuts on both sides of this issue. I guess the nuts on YOUR side would be the ones that favor unquestioned, on demand abortion for any whim.

    http://www.uhs.uga.edu/sexualhealth/contraception/birth_control_pills.html

George Carlin once quipped (in the 70′s) that the birth control pill was virtually untested and the whole female population was a test case for the birth control pill. Can’t find the transcript, but here’s part of it:

“They’ll need those cute little names that describe what the product does. … Someday birth control pills will needs name like Preg-Not! Doctors prefer Embry-no! Here’s one for the ladies: Nary a Carry! Something lofty and poetic: Nay, Family Way! Something earthy and crude: Mom Bomb. Something for the youngsters: Junior…Miss! Here’s a real man’s product: Inconceivable! Mommy Not, Fetus Fail, Kiddie Kill, Poppa Stopper, whatever you want. Womb Broom, Humpty Dumpty, you know. They’re clever guys. I wouldn’t be surprised if they come up with a birth control pill that didn’t work all the time, and call it Baby-Maybe! ‘Available in the six-pack, the sex-pack, and the handy shack-pack for you weekenders! One for home, one for the office, and one for the glove compartment, guys! And don’t forget to save those wrappers!”

  10. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

You need to go back to sleep so you can dream up some more names…. u r kind of funny in your madness!

  11. liberalsRs....d says:

Not me Maria. That’s a George Carlin skit off his “AM/FM” Album. A comic classic. You can find parts of it on YouTube.
