The New York Post is a rag and Carl Paladino is trash which makes a fitting combo for this latest round of sleaze.
Seems that Carl Paladino has lived up to his “mad as hell” campaign slogan.
Last night at a campaign event in Lake George, the New York Republican gubernatorial nominee and New York Post state editor Fred Dicker had to be separated, after they nearly came to blows during a heated exchange over Paladino’s out-of-wedlock daughter.
Paladino accused Dicker of sending Post photographers after the 10-year-old girl, who he had with a woman who is not his wife. “You send another goon to my daughter’s house, and I’ll take you out, buddy!” Paladino yelled.
Previously Paladino accused his opponent Andrew Cuomo of having had an affair.
“Has anybody asked Andrew Cuomo about his paramours?” Paladino asked, adding: “When he was married. Or asked him why his wife left him or threw him out of the house? Has anybody ever done that?”
Politician’s children should of course be left out of political mud-slinging but Paladino does bring a new level of filth to the fight. His XXX-rated and racist emails as well as his thuggery is an embarrassment to all politicians – a group of individuals not easily embarrassed.
You can thank teabaggers for giving scum like Paladino a national forum.

As the midterms get closer, E.J. Dionne looks at a fired up President Obama and the positive effect it’s having on Democratic enthusiasm.
…progressives keenly understand how much their aspirations would be set back if an increasingly right-wing Republican Party won one or both houses this fall.
That’s why liberal blogs are rallying behind scores of Democratic candidates. It’s why the “enthusiasm gap” about this year’s election is slowly closing. It’s why labor and civil rights groups have organized their One Nation Working Together march this Saturday.
And it’s why the polls have begun to show signs of a modest Democratic revival.
[...]A president who largely disdained a mobilizing strategy for his first year and a half in office has returned to his community-organizer roots to try to salvage an election. Here’s the further irony: He has a real chance of pulling it off, which leads to a question. If Obama succeeds, will he continue to keep his supporters engaged and “fired up,” as Sanders suggests he should? Or will he go back to an insider strategy that helped bring him to the brink of this precipice?
Keep believing.

You have to give credit to those teabagger-backed GOP candidates for their ability to sustain a level of craziness previously unseen in U.S. politics.
Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell may be getting all the attention these days, but Glen Urquhart, the Republican candidate for the state’s open House seat, apparently doesn’t want to get left out of the action.
“Do you know, where does this phrase separation of Church and State come from? Does anybody know? … Actually, that’s exactly, it was not in Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists. He was reassuring that the federal government wouldn’t trample on their religion. The exact phrase ‘separation of Church and State’ came out of Adolph Hitler’s mouth, that’s where it comes from. Next time your liberal friends talk about the separation of Church and State ask them why they’re Nazis.”
What part of L-I-E does Urquhart fail to understand? Jefferson did in fact talk about separation of Church and State in his letter to the Danbury Baptists.
“Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.”
Could it be any clearer than that? What you have here is another example of a blatant lie by a Republican who has no shame when it comes to spreading misinformation. They get away with this crap because they’re aware they’re addressing an audience of fools who for the most part will not fact check anything these jackasses say. And you can rarely count on Fox and the rest of the conservative media to set the record straight. Fact and truth is not something they do well.
Sadly, that’s the way wingnuts roll.

Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman are running neck and neck in the race to become California’s next governor. With 48 days left in the campaign…
Meg Whitman, the billionaire Republican candidate for California governor just put another $15 million of her own money into the race — enshrining her in the history books as the largest self-funding political candidate ever.
Whitman, the former eBay CEO, made the $15 million donation to her 2010 California gubernatorial effort late Tuesday, putting her total personal donation to her campaign at a record-breaking $119 million.
At last night’s debate, Whitman was asked about charges she has tried to buy the election.
“I don’t think you can buy elections, I think Californians are too smart,” Whitman said. “What you can do is get your message out.”
Billionaire Whitman might be right about Californians being too smart to buy into her brand of politics but that hasn’t prevented her from attempting to buy the election anyway.
How much has Brown spent on his campaign compared to Whitman’s $119 million? Just a little over $1 million.
