The white power movement views Tea Parties as opportunities to recruit as well as incite violence, as is evidenced by postings on the white power website Stormfront:
“Go where our people are starting to stand up around symptoms of the problem, and INTERVENE to guide them. Just because these started as an anti-tax protest doesn’t mean that they must be limited and can’t be developed upward toward an explicitly racial mass struggle.
“I think the “tea party” is a good way to meet people with potential. Most people at this event will be white people who are fed up with the direction of things and they are ready to hear how we got into this mess.”
[...]
Last November, neo-Nazi J.T. Ready started a fight by unfurling a Hitler flag at an Arizona Tea Party. In the recent documentary, “White Power USA”, Ready describes the Tea Party movement as “the beginning of a really good awakening.” White supremacists believe that they are only the tip of an iceberg, the visible aspect of a more universal hatred. The documentary suggests that white supremacists sees Tea Parties as “the best chance in decades to cross over into mainstream American politics.”
Disturbing.

I’m never sure who the biggest GOP clown is these days. There are so many to choose from. For the moment I’m giving the honor to Rudy Giuliani who sounds a bit more ridiculous every time he says anything about anything. Here he is on Fox and Friends complaining about Obama’s SOTU speech and rambling on about his one trick pony.
“The reality is he spent something like a page and a half — on what with a 14-, 15-page speech — on national security, as if it’s an afterthought. It was a footnote to the speech. It was in the — when the speech was running over an hour and people were starting to yawn, part of the speech. National security is a lot more important than that.”
“Part of the problem this president has had is he hasn’t made national security important enough. He began with not wanting to call it a war, didn’t mention the word “war” last night, didn’t mention the word “Islamic terrorism” last night. This would be like Franklin Roosevelt giving a State of the Union speech during the Second World War and not mentioning Nazism and not mentioning the war.”
No Rudy, the reality is that you’re an imbecile and an embarrassment to yourself. In fact, the President mentioned the word “war’ seven times in his speech. And if you’re right that Obama spent “a page and a half” of a “14, 15 page speech” on national security, what more would you want? Fourteen pages on national security and a single page dedicated to the economy, jobs and health care?
This guy is so fixated with 9/11 and “Islamic terrorism” that it’s turned him into a cartoon. The irony of it all is that he has absolutely no credentials in the area of national security aside from the fact that he happened to be mayor of New York on September 11 2001. It’s the equivalent of the mayor of New Orleans claiming he’s now an expert on climatology and hurricane prediction because of Katrina.
And this clown wanted to be president.

This made me laugh. Political Animal remarks on Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s decision to give his State of the Union response from the floor of the Virginia House of Delegates.
“…following on the heels of State of the Union, McDonnell more or less came across as the president of a much smaller country.”
He did!
As for the content of McDonnell’s speech…
“All Americans agree, we need a health care system that is affordable, accessible, and high quality. But most Americans do not want to turn over the best medical care system in the world to the federal government.
“Republicans in Congress have offered legislation to reform healthcare, without shifting Medicaid costs to the states, without cutting Medicare, and without raising your taxes.
“We will do that by implementing common sense reforms, like letting families and businesses buy health insurance policies across state lines, and ending frivolous lawsuits against doctors and hospitals that drive up the cost of your healthcare.
“And our solutions aren’t thousand-page bills that no one has fully read, after being crafted behind closed doors with special interests.”
To which PA rightly responds…
A few quick things to keep in mind. First, the U.S. system isn’t the “best in the world.” That’s just silly.
Second, the Democratic plan does not turn over medical care to the federal government. McDonnell probably should have looked into this before giving the speech.
Third, the Republican health care plan was a fairly transparent joke. It was an embarrassment to the GOP, not a plan to brag about.
And fourth, while the Republican proposal wasn’t a 1,000-page bill “crafted behind closed doors with special interests,” it was, in reality, a 700-page bill crafted behind closed doors with special interests.
Cons make it so easy to rip their ignorant arguments to shreds.
