How’s this for a frightening thought…
Neither Palin nor [Lou] Dobbs has any type of political future—the former because of her ignorance and thin skin, the latter because of his bigot’s baggage. But if you surround Dobbs’ brain with Palin’s sensual warmth, add Beck’s acting skills, top it all off with the moderate-seeming polish of a Mitt Romney, and then throw in a dash of the new Newt Gingrich’s “ideas” and “skepticism” and “detachment,” you’ll have something like the populist Frankenstein that will, tragically, come to dominate American politics.
Probably, but you’d end up with one hell of a moose-shooting, lying, bigoted Mormon.

I love what Howard Dean says here.
Former DNC Chair Howard Dean called on Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn) to resign as chair of Senate Homeland Security Committee if he can’t bring himself to oppose a Republican filibuster of health care reform legislation.
…Dean stressed that he had no problem with Lieberman opposing the bill on its philosophical merits, or lack thereof. But he insisted that it was irresponsible and unprincipled to not allow the legislation to come to an up-or-down vote.
“I think that [Lieberman] is a very complicated guy,” said Dean. “He does [confuse me] because he says he’s a principled guy but there’s nothing principled about holding up a bill… If he was a principled guy he’d resign his chairmanship.”
“If you are with a caucus you don’t owe the leader any vote on any substance,” Dean added. “I have no problem with him voting against the public option… You owe it to Harry Reid to allow him to run the Senate. And if you’re not willing to do that the proper thing to do is to step aside.”
How can anyone logically argue against Dean’s statement here? Lieberman is free to believe whatever the hell he wants and to vote accordingly, but to hold up an actual vote on the issue (as Reps are planning on doing) is the stuff of dirty, irresponsible politics.
The only thing I’d change from what Dean said would be to not wait for Lieberman to resign his chairmanship. I’d take it away from him immediately.

Given a choice between turkey and pasta…turkey loses every time. Just came back from some friends where we had a food tasting. Chuck, who is half Italian and half German, was showing off his 20 pound turkey he had just pulled out of the oven. Exquisite. We weren’t staying for supper but he did serve up his pre-bird appetizers…meat balls and homemade ravioli. OMG.
Next year, if I’m hosting, I’m considering sculpting a 30 pound meatball into the shape of a turkey. I can’t imagine anyone complaining.
If you would like to share your Thanksgiving menu, please do. Hope you’re all having a joyous Thanksgiving.
