With Heather Graham now pushing for the public option, can there be any doubt it’s a shoo-in?

Make of this what you wish.
Young men who voted for Republican John McCain or Libertarian candidate Robert Barr in the 2008 presidential election suffered an immediate drop in testosterone when the election results were announced, according to a study by researchers at Duke University and the University of Michigan.
In contrast, men who voted for the winner, Democrat Barack Obama, had stable testosterone levels immediately after the outcome.
Female study participants showed no significant change in their testosterone levels before and after the returns came in.
[...]
The findings mirror what other studies have found in men who participate directly in an interpersonal contest — the winner gets a boost of testosterone, while the loser’s testosterone drops. Testosterone is a steroid hormone manufactured by the testes that is linked to aggression, risk-taking and responses to threats. Women have it too but in much lesser amounts and originating from different sources (their ovaries and adrenal glands), which makes them less likely to experience rapid testosterone changes following victory or defeat.

As polls indicate, the largest voting block out there are independents at about 40% (Dems: 33% Reps: 20% – see chart below). With that in mind, imagine being an independent and you hear the voice of the Republican party spout this bit of craziness.
Limbaugh on environmentalists:
They convince these families to strap explosives on who? Not them. On their kids. Grab your 3-year-old, grab your 4-year-old, grab your 6-year-old, and we’re gonna strap explosives on there, and then we’re going to send you on a bus, The jihad guys have to maintain control. The environmentalist wackos are the same way.
What would you think? Is this a guy you’d want making your arguments for you? And then you hear Pigboy say this about New York Times environmental reporter Andy Revkin who wrote about how population growth would raise greenhouse gas emission.
This guy from The New York Times, if he really thinks that humanity is destroying the planet, humanity is destroying the climate, that human beings in their natural existence are going to cause the extinction of life on Earth — Andrew Revkin. Mr Revkin, why don’t you just go kill yourself and help the planet by dying?
Limbaugh is completely unhinged. Equating people who are concerned about the well-being of the planet with jihadists is typical of right-wing lunacy.
The Republican party has evolved into a party of idiots so detached from reality, it’s laughable. One has to feel for true conservatives who no longer have a national political party which represents them in any coherent, intelligent manner.
No wonder there are less people calling themselves Republicans than ever before.

It is not looking good for Republicans according to the latest Washington Post /ABC poll.
On the issue that has been perhaps the most pronounced flash point in the national debate, 57 percent of all Americans now favor a public insurance option, while 40 percent oppose it. Support has risen since mid-August, when a bare majority, 52 percent, said they favored it.
That should quiet down those who are still making the claim that Americans don’t want a public option. But Republicans have far greater worries than blocking health care reform. These numbers should have them seriously concerned.
Only 20 percent of adults identify themselves as Republicans, little changed in recent months, but still the lowest single number in Post-ABC polls since 1983. Political independents continue to make up the largest group, at 42 percent of respondents; 33 percent see themselves as Democrats.
Even more disconcerting for the GOP is this:
How much confidence do you have in [ITEM] to make the right decisions for the country’s future – a great deal of confidence, a good amount, just some or none at all?
a. Obama 49
b. The Republicans
in Congress 19
c. The Democrats
in Congress 34
When the above numbers are broken down, only 17% of independents have confidence in Republicans. Ouch.
Any way you slice it, Reps have their work cut out if they ever hope to get back into power. In the meantime, the death spiral continues on.
Now, if Dems could get their act together and pass a solid health care bill…
