Sarah Steps Down…

Goodbye Sarah

Sarah Palin, we hardly knew ye: The Alaska governor steps down today. So what’s next?

“Palin has said little about any major moves, but has hinted that she has a bigger role in mind. She is scheduled to speak Aug. 8 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California, and has said she plans to write a book, campaign for political candidates from coast to coast and build a right-of-center coalition,” according to the Associated Press. “We’ll play it by ear,” Todd Palin told Politico. “We’ll take a little breather and go from there.”

Well, Sarah, you don’t read newspapers but you want to write a book? Good luck. By the way Todd, of course you’re taking a little breather… a book contract in the works for you too? Best deal in the world, ask Hillary Clinton.

It never ceases to amaze me how anyone in America can have their moment of fame regardless of whether or not they’re offering anything of value.

If hypocrisy and downright delusional thinking can get any deeper than this, I don’t know how.  Rush Limbaugh on the secret to his longevity on air…

“People don’t want to be beat up every day with, This caffeine product is going to kill you, or, The seas are rising and New York’s going to get flooded. They want to hear about greatness.”

“They want – people want to be inspired! People want to be motivated. They want their positive thoughts validated. They don’t want to hear every day how everything’s going to hell in a handbasket and there’s a shortage of handbaskets. They don’t want to hear this. That’s what gets ratings on television.  I have shown you get ratings on radio being positive, respecting the audience, being inspiring and motivational at times, when it’s necessary.”

Positive, inspiring and motivational? Here’s ThinkProgress pointing out some of that positiveness from Limbaug’s Thursday show.

Limbaugh last night said that Obama’s health care reform was “an ideological attempt to control freedom, limit it as much as possible.” Limbaugh also tried to fear-monger about how Obama is making the situation worse for the American public, saying, “They don’t have jobs. They don’t have rising incomes. They don’t have the seas being lowered. He actually promised that. We — none of — we don’t have anything positive happening.”

You might want to skip the following clip if you’re prone to vomiting at displays of excessive stupidity.  Not only does Limbaugh talk of his great inspiring and motivational show but he let’s us all know why Democrats are afraid of Sarah Palin.  Funny stuff.

From Daniel Kurtzman’s Political Humor Blog

“According to a new poll, 42% of Americans say they would vote for Sarah Palin for president in 2012. They also said they’d support her decision to step down in 2013.” –Conan O’Brien

“But the governor of South Carolina, Governor Sanford has lately been seen not wearing his wedding ring. And I was thinking, geez, I hope he didn’t lose it while he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Then he’ll never find it.” –David Letterman

“President Obama throws out the first pitch at the All-Star Game. And people are criticizing him because he had the big baggy jeans on…I want to tell you something. In all honesty, if we had wanted a president who looked good in pants, we’d have elected Hillary.” –David Letterman

“The tag Republicans kept throwing to hang around Sonia Sotomayor’s neck was ‘reverse racist.’ They said, you know, it’s reverse racists like her that give regular racists like them a bad name.” –Bill Maher

“The astronauts went on a space walk today to change the batteries on the outside of the International Space Station. They hope the space walk will answer some key questions…Like, who put the batteries on the outside of the space station?” –Craig Ferguson

Cheney’s Ugly Side. Is There Any Other?

http://mariopiperni.com/

.

The more we learn of Dick Cheney, the more vile his image gets.

Top Bush administration officials in 2002 debated testing the Constitution by sending American troops into the suburbs of Buffalo to arrest a group of men suspected of plotting with Al Qaeda, according to former administration officials.

Some of the advisers to President George W. Bush, including Vice President , argued that a president had the power to use the military on domestic soil to sweep up the terrorism suspects, who came to be known as the Lackawanna Six, and declare them enemy combatants.

Mr. Bush ultimately decided against the proposal to use military force.

A decision to dispatch troops into the streets to make arrests has few precedents in American history, as both the Constitution and subsequent laws restrict the military from being used to conduct domestic raids and seize property.

Is dealing with domestic violence not what the FBI does?  Why would Cheney want active duty military knocking down neighborhood doors in an American city…especially in the aftermath of 9/11 when fear still gripped the majority of Americans?  Circumventing the Constitution by having lackeys in the Justice department write opinion memorandums granting broader presidential authority seems to have been Cheney’s specialty.

Do you get the impression that The Dick would have fit in quite well as an adviser to a Kim Jong or an Ahmadinejad or any other leader of a nation where laws are nothing more than words on a piece of paper?
