He Was Not A Great Great President

Meghan McCain on Real Time…

.

.

.

Well, Meghan got it half right.  Bush was not a great, great president but it would be more correct to admit that he sure as hell was a bad, bad president.  It’s difficult not to mock the little partisan minds that still defend the presidency of George W. Bush in light of everything we know.  As a pundit once put it, he not only broke the country, he almost broke the world.

The Republican chant that Obama is continually pointing to Bush for the situation the country is currently in is hoaky.  Certainly Obama, in the face of criticism that he is doing too much, has been forced to remind people that he inherited the mess.  Republicans would love nothing better than to never hear Bush’s name spoken and push the idea that everything – from the failed economy to the GM banruptcy to the Iran situation – is all Obama’s doing.

The same idiots who defended Bush for 8 years, now assume the position that we should all forget about their failed hero.  It doesn’t work that way.  Every president, including the last Bush as well as Clinton and Reagan, defended their actions by pointing to the situation they inherited from the last administration.  That’s the way the game is played.

As for Bush, if there was any justice, this is what he and Meghan’s dad would be wearing today. . .

I had this day so well planned.  Woke up early, made coffee, perused the paper and turned on the laptop.  I answered email for about 10 minutes and then started reading.  Got up to pour a second cup and on my return to the desk, I had no internet connection.  Another 30 minutes of fiddling about to try and fix it only to find that my provider’s servers are down.

For someone in the blogging business, it doesn’t get worse than this.  It’s like being a plumber without his tools, a taxi driver with a busted engine, a fireman with no firehose, a Bush without his Cheney, a Cheney without his torture…we just can’t operate.

To add to my problems, I’m moving in 9 days and I haven’t begun to pack.  Today was going to be my big start.  My kids were coming over to help and the plan was to write a post, pack some boxes, write a post, pack more boxes, etc.  And now I find myself sitting at the corner coffeshop making use of their internet service.

Not sure what I’m going to get done today.   Contemplating going back to bed and starting this day all over again in a few hours.

Do The Deal!

michael steele http://mariopiperni.com/

.

Michael Steele is the coolest, smartest, hippest, groovin’ dude ever.  The RNC chairman has solved the health care crisis single handedly.

“So if it’s a cost problem, it’s easy: Get the people in a room who have the most and the most direct impact on cost, and do the deal. Do the deal. It’s not that complicated.”

“If it’s an access question, people don’t have access to health care, then figure out who they are, and give them access! Hello?! Am I missing something here?

See?  It’s not a problem at all.  Obama just has to do the deal and it’s done.

Actually, I thought the president was trying to do the deal and give access to health care for those who don’t have it.  So why all the yelling and screaming from the hippest dude’s own party?

QotD – George Bush

quoteoftheday-idiot

At a Republican fundraiser, Georgie Porgie expressed his concern for health care reform…

“There are a lot of ways to remedy the situation without nationalizing health care.  I worry about encouraging the government to replace the private sector when it comes to providing insurance for health care.”

A.  The Obama plan will not replace the private sector. It will add a public sector to the existing system.

B.  Mr. NoBrains sat in the White House for 8 years and did not do a damn thing to reform the health care system he claims he’s now concerned about.  The exact same problems which exist now, existed then.

C.  Why would Bush think for a minute that anyone would give a hoot what he thinks?  Do what you do best, you incompetent fool, and go clear an acre of brush.

In his own words and for those who he completely hoodwinked for 8 miserable years…
