Swine Flu – Conservatives Spread Hate And Fear

Savage the Swine

Savage the Swine

It did not take long for the xenophobic scum in the right wing media to use the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico to spread their sick and moronic venom across the airwaves.  No statement is too bizarre for these masters of hate as they politicize every issue possible.

Michael Savage, Neal Boortz, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh…c’mon guys.  Blame illegal immigrants.  Blame the Obama government.  Blame liberals.  Use every opportunity available to divide the country further in an attempt to increase your ratings and sway the thinking of your feeble minded listeners.  Find a way to link the swine flu pandemic to terrorism and immigrants.  Fear is always a great away to convince others that there’s a bogeyman behind every tragedy.  Go right ahead you sick lying swine.

Michael Savage:

Make no mistake about it: Illegal aliens are the carriers of the new strain of human-swine avian flu from Mexico.”

“[C]ould this be a terrorist attack through Mexico? Could our dear friends in the radical Islamic countries have concocted this virus and planted it in Mexico knowing that you, [Homeland Security Secretary] Janet Napolitano, would do nothing to stop the flow of human traffic from Mexico?”  [T]hey are a perfect mule — perfect mules for bringing this virus into America. But you wouldn’t think that way, would you? Because you are incapable of protecting America’s homeland, Napolitano.”

“How do you protect yourself? What can you do? I’ll tell you what I’m going to do, and I don’t give a damn if you don’t like what I’m going to say. I’m going to have no contact anywhere with an illegal alien, and that starts in the restaurants.” He added, “I will have no any illegal alien workers around me. I will not have them in any of my properties, I will not have them anywhere near me.”

And how does one tell illegal immigrants from those who are in the country legally?  Doesn’t really matter, does it…because it’s not about illegal immigration.  It’s about hating everyone who is not a white god-fearing conservative.

The only bright news in all of this is that the latest Washington Post/ABC poll indicates that only 21% of the population identifies themselves as republicans. This places the party in third party status behind democrats and independents.  This is the lowest it’s been in 25 years.

If you wish to hear the hate mongers yourself…

This is unbelievable!  Stupid doesn’t get any stupider than this unless your middle initial is a ‘W’.

.

A few points…

  • Carbon dioxide makes up 0.03% of the atmosphere, not 3.0%.
  • There are a ton of papers out there outlining the dangers of CO2.
  • A lot of naturally occurring things are dangerous.  Hey Michele, ever hear of water?  Natural enough for you?  Ever hear of drowning?  How about flooding?  Katrina?
  • She was speaking from the floor of the House, using a prepared speech!  This means that she and her staff had time to research all which she said…and still she could be so amazingly wrong?!!?

I could go on here but let me just quote some of the comments which accompanied the above video.

The only people who would vote for her are people who are more stupid than she is. That’s quite scary.

This makes my brain hurt. I don’t even know how to respond to it.

She should eat a “natural” chunk of lead if it is indeed harmless because it’s natural.

Hey Michelle, Mars is calling and they want you to return home and to quit annoying the Earthlings!

Shocking: she’s a Republican! Never woulda thunk it.

Indeed the republican party has turned into the party of the dumb, uneducated and dangerously ignorant.

Absolutely amazing that someone who knows less than little children about basic science can be so sure she’s right and so ready to determine public policy on the basis of her ignorance.

Hmmmlooking at my illustration above.  I think I erred – should of placed Bachmann just above insects on the evolutionary tree of life.  My apologies to all fish, frogs and birds.

Enhanced Interrogation

Definition of Torture

(Standford Encyclopadia of Philosophy)

Torture includes such practices as searing with hot irons, burning at the stake, electric shock treatment to the genitals, cutting out parts of the body, e.g. tongue, entrails or genitals, severe beatings, suspending by the legs with arms tied behind back, applying thumbscrews, inserting a needle under the fingernails, drilling through an unanesthetized tooth, making a person crouch for hours in the ‘Z’ position, waterboarding (submersion in water or dousing to produce the sensation of drowning), and denying food, water or sleep for days or weeks on end.

George W. Bush

We do not torture.”

NEWS FLASH! The U.S. Is A Banana Republic!

Banana Republic?

Banana Republic?

Well, maybe not yet, but according to Republican Senator Kit Bond, the country is surely heading in that direction.

The Senator…

This whole thing about punishing people in past administrations reminds me more of a banana republic than the United States of America. We don’t criminally prosecute people we disagree with when we change office. There were a lot of questions that could have been asked of the Clinton administration failing to recognize the war on terror. They did not. The Bush administration went forward and that’s the way our country should. The president said he was going to be forward looking and now he has opened up a stab in the back.”

“Disagree with”?  What???!!??  Is there not a difference between disagreement and criminal activity?  If there is evidence that the past administration did indeed take part in unlawful acts, is it not the duty of the office of the Attorney General and Congress to investigate such activity?

This goes beyond politics and it’s a crying shame that once more an important issue gets caught in the crossfire of the left-right divide.  If Democratic members of Congress were aware of waterboarding and other illegal activities which were authorized by the Bush administration, then they too should be investigated and punished as the law requires.

Sometimes it should only be about right or wrong.

UPDATE

I just came across this on HuffPo:

We need to look at to make sure exactly what happened is known to the public and to deter any future president from doing like behavior, if it was wrong,” said one well-respected member of Congress. “In that regard, if we can do it in a bipartisan fashion, I think that’s what we should do. Every American benefits when you can control X abuse of power. If this was an abuse of power, then we need to know about it.”

It was February 2001 not April 2009. The topic was Bill Clinton’s controversial pardon of Marc Rich not the use of torture techniques on detainees. And the above quote was attributed to Rep. Lindsey Graham.

Here’s more on what Republicans had to say in 2001.

This is “outrageous,” said then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), who called for a congressional investigation. “We should at least take a look at what happened and ask ourselves, should we take some action to try to prevent abuses that do occur?”

“Congress has an obligation to find out if this was appropriate,” said House Government Reform Committee Chair Dan Burton (R-IN) on January 26. “[My] panel will obtain ‘subpoenas if necessary‘”

Hypocritical scum.  Here’s what Karl Rove now says…

What [Obama has] essentially said is if we have policy disagreements with our predecessor, we are going to do is turn ourselves into the moral equivalent of a Latin American country run by colonels in weird sunglasses,” said Karl Rove, during an appearance on Fox News. “Is that what we’ve come to in this country?

Need I say more?
